    Recommend me a keyboard

    Hi,

Right - my old Memorex keyboard just died. Anyone recommend me a decent keyboard:

    - Must be black
    - High quality
    - Wired - PS2 - no interest in wireless

I'm getting back into playing CS so I dont want any 3 key limit rubbish. Any ideas? I have a logitech in the office that is perfect but it has been discontinued

Logitech UltraX keyboard. Just bought one for my new system. Very slim, low-profile and elegant but does have a silver body, keys are black though (so it doesn't quite meet all three of your requirements).

It is fairly compact and no-nonsense. It oozes class and has high-precision laptop style keys with a very good soft but assured feel to them. I do a lot of typing and have tried many, many keyboards and this is by far the best. It is also wired with a USB/PS2 adapter.

It's a steal from Scan at £16.44. Here's the link:

As the keyboard is two-tone, you can use a silver or black mouse with it and the setup will look very nice. A beige/whit mouse looks a bit out of place with this keyboard.

That's just what I am after, but I cant stand the fact that they have changed the design of the insert/delete/home/end cluster.

Why on earth do companies feel the need to redesign the basic layout?

Dunno by that annoys me too - I mean the new MS keyboards with the Function switching key are in my eyes truely horrid

On a side note - Cherry recently did a survey @ work and dished out some keyboards to the people who were honest enough to give them true feedback - I got a cherry G86-2100 ( USB but can be used with a PS2 adaptor ) and when I got it I was humming or arrring as to whether it would be any good.

Well about 9 weeks later - I'm using it now and fine its better than any other keyboard I've used and ideal for gaming

    I love it.
As Monkey says though, the function key thing can be very annoying, but they board itself is a pleasure to type on.

I have to admit, keyboards are getting really crappy of late, personally i would pay up to £100 for a keyboard if it was perfect. The keyboard is almost as important than the monitor imo.
btw, that 3 key limit thing, I think its a PS/2 issue, no USB keyboards present the same problem, I could be wrong, but every PS/2 keyboard I've ever owned did the same annoying thing when i was trying to play UT/HL/Anything, I got a USB keyboard last year and it works fine.
