My Seagate cheetah 15k is the best I've used. Really fast, reliable, just a damn nice drive. Screamed like a banshee though.

For OS and games....74GB Raptor...very nice!
For data I like my 120GB WD EIDE drive(s).
Funnily enough the drive I liked best at the time was an original IBM SCSI Deskstar. It was far cooler and more reliable than the Seagates I had been using. It was retired from its 3rd computer after 6 years due to being too small, but was still going strong.
I have to say I've always found Seagate's RMA a pleasure to use - even if I had to send it to Holland. They replaced one Barracuda in its last few weeks of warranty within a few days with no questions asked.
I have about 3 Quantum Fireball 3.2GB drives in my drawer that get shoved into test machines, and used for general crap. They haven't given up yet!

An old old hard drive made by a company called Coner don't even remember what size it was. Made in Scothland! or my IBM120Gb Deskstar...
'Twas Conner. Used to make good HDs. AFAIK they got bought by Seagate. Maybe why Seagate drives improved...
15gb IBM GXP75
Still runing to this day, still fast, just keeps going.

a lot of early tech went into the gxp range that many other manufacturs have used.
Best drive I have had, or should I say the only drive that hasn't packed up on me, is my old 6.4GB Seagate! Its still running well! I have had other seagates, and numerous IBM drives, and they have all packed up at some stage!
Currently got 2 Samsung drives in my machine. They are the quietest I have ever had and I really hope these don't give in like all my previous drives!
Ant
My 1.1gb WD Caviar... still going, even though I threw it across my room, and it's been dropped while running several times.
