mine is a little noisy at full blast, but it cools well enuf and keeps my 3500+ running 2.7Ghz 24/7 no prob under 50C normal load (prime gets a bit toasty at 53C). but yea, if you want top notch cooling, look no further than xp-90c.. cant get any better...

sounds like you lot have settled on a decent cooler. however if anyone else wants to put forward and arguement for their own cooler (like 8bit did with the arctic cooling) then go ahead i'll be more than interested.

i will end up probably going for a UV theme in the case so what fan would you recommend for the XP90c.

are you running a s939 processor as my 754 downstairs idles at about 35°C in a 28°C case and under load it hits about 47°C thats with a scythe samurai with a vantec tornado fan on top at about 9V or so.
you wouldn't need to mod the case by hand, get one of these

Yes my 3500+ is an s939, think they only come in s939 package. The temps I quoted are for the chip at stock speeds with the Arctic Cooling unit. I could get it colder I suspect if I replace the TIM that came with the AC unit with akasa stuff or something. I tend not to overclock the core, but I have PC4000 RAM which I run at 998MHz so that doesn't really affect the CPU temp much.

i have 2 points. the first is the 754's are hotter than the 939's and therefore need slightly better cooling. the second is that there isn't enough room to fit a 120mm fan at the back so modding to a 92mm is the biggest i can get to without hitting the case side.

if i was going with arctic cooling i would probably get the freezer 64 but i don't think it will be great.

any other suggestions from the likes of coolermaster or zalman?

i know but is just that there hasn't been anything else offered. what type of fans does it take 92mm 25mm, or 92mm 36mm or does it do both. second number is depth of the fan.

I'm sure any 92mm fans will do... But if you really want it to cool well... you could always settle for a vantec tornado... abit loud but you'll live...

i have a S754 3400 Newcastle which i have previously clocked to 2.7ghz on my Xp90 it used to sit at about 42 (from 40 at stock) with the ys-tech fan at 7v. Although this was in the winter/spring.

In the very hottest of the weather with my 3400 back at its default 2.4ghz (due to not needing that extra power) it was idling at about 40, i dont know the load but it was probably about 46, again this was with the fan at 7v.

I consider that to be excellent and thus recommend the XP90 throughly.
