    Motherboard Sound Problem

    Hey Guys,

Let me first give you some background i have just bought a second hand machine of a friend (win) becuase iam a Mac user and i wanted something to use for online games and lan's, iam going to use as a base model and upgrade it a little bit and use exclusivley as a gaming machine.

The machine is currently using onboard sound, 120gig IDE hard drive 512meg Ram, 9600xt.

    The Problem

I have just bought a Eve online subscription and was playing away with my headphones plugged in and i started to hear a beeping like that you get when you start the computer up but diffrent tones, so i took the headphones off and it appears that the internal speaker is making a beeping noise when playing Eve it dosen't do this when listening to music which makes me think it is the way Eve uses the sound.

Also when i have the headphones on the sound in Eve seems to crackle.

This leads me to belive that the sound onboard is not good enought for the tasks i need to perform and that a third party card may be required?

    Many Thanks

it could be something as simple as a driver update or a later bios revision, probably best to update all your drivers first.

Beeping as you describe is often related to overheating or a fan running too slowly. Sounds like it might be an Abit board and the CPU is overheating IMO.

Well i got si soft sandra and checked and the board is a MSI SiSoftware Sandra

    Mainboard
Manufacturer : MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD
    MP Support : No
    Model : MS-6570
From experiance with the over heating alarm before isnt it usually something like beep.....beep.....beep keeping the intervals the same? Becuase this sound is random and the beeps can come one after another or 30 -40 seconds apart it is prety random.

Also i tried it last night and waited for the board to beep and minimized Eve and the CPU was only report 52C and the alarm is set to 60C

I think you guys are right, i went to do some folding last night and the computer started making the same beeping noise which leads me to belive a CPU heat issue.

What sink would be good for a 3000XP+ AMD Socket A chip
