Scrandman - have you compared noise and airflow of the Sharkoon fans to any other fans? Just trying to find out how quite they will be. Thanks.

At 5V, slightly quieter than the Antec 120 tricool on it's lowest setting. Definately a great deal quieter than the ebuyer £1 120mm @5V it replaced.

I must correct my earlier post though, @ 5V it turns at 1000rpm, not 1300 as earlier stated. You can also buy a 1000 rpm version which runs 1000rpm @ 12V. This could be undervolted to be even slower still.

I wouldn't bother with the reserator, though i would get the 430W seasonic over the modstream. Even 430W will be overkill for your system.

Go for the ninja, and see if you can undervolt your cpu. What does your PC do overnight?

Have you thought about a new case? The antec p180 might help you. The rear fans should allow you to run the ninja passive, and the hdd caddies are reportedly very effective at quieting the hdds. Furthermore, the case sides are designed to muffle sound, and it comes with 3 speed adjustable fans, which you can swap for quieter models if they arent quiet enough.

Another option not mentioned is soundproofing the case. Using acousticpac dampening foam will help, particularly when it comes to reducing hdd seek noise.

If you go for the seasonic 430W, make sure you get the latest version has it has slightly longer cables and a PCI-e connector.

What is you hdd configuration? If it is just seek noise that is the problem, then any data storage drives that dont get used at night can be left untouched. Just silence the windows drives.
