I would recomend Zone Alarm for your firewall, I have never used nod32 as my av prog, AVG free edition is what I use.

You pay such a premium for the cutting edge equipment, so I don't think Scan are ripping you off (a friend got a system built by Scan and couldn't praise them enough) - if you're willing to lose 10% of the performance, I'm sure you could knock a HUGE wodge off of that £3000 - I know I would
Definitely go for HDDs that are at least 250GB though

I'm not sure about the hard drives, I'm sure I won't ever fill up 120GB. Remember, there are two 120's, one is for all my important stuff (media players, protection, driver etc etc) and one is for games. I HIGHLY doubt I could fill a 120GB hard drive with games!???

I bet you could with a system like that, games are now taking up many gygabytes of space, and I can't see them getting any smaller as time progresses, and as I said with a system like that you will want to buy the latest and greatest games to allow it to flex its muscles and show it off to its full potential.

blu ray and perpendicular drives are out now, which means in a few months games can take up whatever they please and people will still buy them

I've got over 120gigs of installed games alone. If you're a keen on music too, you can easily fill another 20-40gig with that...
Appreciate that not everyone uses mountains of HD space, but with HDs so cheap, with little price difference between a 120 and 250gig, I'm not really sure it's worth scrounging a few pennies for something like that.
