I'm getting itchy credit cards... I don't need the extra speed but it's so much fun building a new system and windows does need a reinstall anyway...

I'm just making excuses to do it. Gah!

also the graphic card will be leadtek 7300gt extreme ddr3 (I am not a hardcore gamer.. DS lite/PSP is more then enough for me).

The timings on the HZ are much nicer, it can take more volts than this RAM ive got, and takes more Mhz, If I had some, I would be on 3.8Ghz by now, easy.

The Gigabyte DS3 doesnt have a divider to lower the memory, only to raise it, Ive got this stuff to run at 490Mhz (with max volts through it) pretty good when you consider stock is 340Mhz.

This is the first time I play with DDR2 ram... (have been using AMD for ages)

what's the "maximum safe voltage" for HZ?

So James is cpu misreporting the cpu speed as well as the multi? Have you manged to get it dual prime stable? if I was to buy one of these fellas i would be hoping for 3ghz dual prime stable 24/7. Are you completely happy with your choice of motherboard?
    thanks

it is speed stepping to 6 multiplier on low / 0 load

should be an option in bios to enable / disable it.

It is currently on speedstep hence why the CPU is displayed as slower.

The motherboard is only missing 1 thing, you cant put the RAM on a lower divider.

Other than that it is excellent.

I can disable the speedstep and will soon, just sorting out some more benchies.

yeah, i saw that about the divider, so if you have fast enough ram, that shouldnt be a problem then eh?
