    so? it's not about the absolute voltage, it's about the steps - which are too coarse on older boards.

    i have a £200 i975 board that can't do core2 due to the voltage regulation. it sucks, but that's life.

    Or you could wait for the lower end Core 2 Duo's. Like i said on the previous page, its the Conroe 800 E4XXX series.
    Or just get a another motherboard like Jo says.

    This mobo from Asrock is a 945 and claims to support Core2Duo so it is possible for 945s to run Conroe chips. Don't ask me what ones though!

    That Asrock 945 does support Core 2 Duo AFAIK.

    The issue is the voltage steppings (as mentioned)....if the board is designed with that in mind, then it can support C2D...unfortunatly 99% of the older boards were not and its a physical component issue, not a BIOS fix.
