Quick question....
The commando is a 965 and the ASUS P5W DH is 975.
Whats the key difference between the two? Wouldn't it be better to go for the latest chipset?
Thanks again all, you have been great!

As I understand it, the 965 chipset is a better overclocker and seeing as the commando is a gaming flagship board they chose this chipset instead of the 975.
I don't think there's a big difference between the two chipsets anyway but I'm sure one of the more knowledgable guys here will give you a more detailed explanation.
Painful isnt it. Which offers the best value for money.
Heres a comparison between chipset's 965 and 975x

in answer to your question however the Commando offers better overclocking depending on how good your cpu is some overclock better than others ie 2 E6600 can overclock differently from eah other. There is better storage on the 965 unless you look at the Abit AW9D Max (975x).
Is the extra cost of Commando worth it, I reckon its too early to say until the likes of Hexus publish thier findings.
In day to day use TBH I dont think you will find any difference. Your 3D Mark, if your into that might be slightly higher on a 965, 975x overclocks faster.
Question whether you want a more mature chipset or a newer chipset. Also the feature set ie more usb ports available on the 965.
I had to make the same choice last month on an Asus 965 deluxe and the Abit AW9D Max, as u see from my system spec I went for the Abit. I have compared my 3D Mark etc with a friends system who has exactly the same set up aapart from he has an Asus 965p and is virtually no difference that you would say one is better than the other. Gaming frame rates mine is slightly faster but you wouldnt notice in RL.
Difficult choice.
Thanks Drat and Fisnik, i will do some research into this.
