I think, if you ring seasonic and tell them, they will be able to tell you if your psu is affected.

Settings look ok. Did you do memtest on the ram?

Run memtest test 5 for a few hours at the timings and speeds you are running now and see if you get any errors.

OK, but what might it be incompatible with?

Some S12 PSUs had a problem with some Asus boards. Have a google, you should come up with something

Seems a bit unfortunate for PSU manufacturers (and consumers), if Asus implement a 'feature', without discussing the possible implications with the PSU manufacturers.....apparently.......

I agree, not all units are affected though. I had the exact same issue with the commando and Enermax Galaxy, they just sent one out and told me to hand the old one back to Berk from city link

    I got mine from Scan.

Think they would be sympathetic to a 'possible' incompatibility and what 'guarantee' would there be that the replacement would be any better?

No idea, I dont work for scan, but if I did, I would give you a free upgrade to a 750w and a QX6700 cpu, and a stupid frog CD as a way of apology.

Cor...! You're such a nice guy.......

I've emailed Scan now, about a swap.....I'm not expecting them to be as accommodating.....I'll keep the thread informed.

BTW, a little thing I discovered about the Asus Bios upgrade (floppy method), not explicitly mentioned by Asus......Asus flash programme AND the new Bios will not fit on one floppy.

You have to use two floppies and reference your b: drive in your Dos command.

I can see how the PSU could impact my startup problems, but it wouldn't explain my other problems with Explorer and games surely?

I'm using NEC AD7170S Sata DVD drive.....anyone aware of any issues here?

    Ring Seasonic directly, probably quicker

PSU problem…..no response from Scan yet….

Rang Seasonic Netherlands…..spoke to a pretty girl…. (I can tell she was pretty due to magical powers only available to men of a ‘certain age’)!

    Conversation went something like this…….

Pretty Girl: “Can I help you”?

    Bill: <Explains problem..>

Pretty Girl: “Ooh….I think I need to pass this to Technical Support: can we ring you back?”

Bill: <Looking at watch, thinking, I need to be leaving the house in a few hours> ….. “About how long will it take you to call back?”

    Pretty Girl: “About three days….?”

    Bill: <ROFL>

Their ONE techie covering Europe, was away on a business trip.

So, I rang Seasonic, California tonight…..spoke to a guy who asked me to send him an email which he would pass to their Tech Support….now done.....waiting

At least you are heading in the right direction now (hopefully )

If you dont get anywhere and decode to change your psu, I can recommend Enermax as having some of the best customer service I've experienced for a long time

I've Used the Galaxy, Galaxy DXX, Liberty 620w and Noisetaker 485w on the P5B and not had any problems with any of them. It was the commando that caused the trouble.

Edit: You mean Seasonic dont you, ignore me
