    LOMAC slide-show

Guys, having just patched LOMAC to 1.2, I'm wondering what rigs you're all running, as tbh I've been put off playing LOMAC due to low frame rates, esp when buzzing tanks in the A-10. Anything to speed it up (other than getting a better graphics card - which I'm going to in a little while)?

What are the graphics settings?? Turn down all the bells and whistles and make sure AA is low or off. Havent tried it with the patch yet, will give it a go.

I didn't - because I've been on the nasty end of a LOMAC fps failure!

Right, there's a number of things you can do.

Now, be reasonable with the settings. I use the following:
    http://www.al004a2442.pwp.blueyonder...s/Settings.jpg

    Next - open up your graphics.cfg file and look for the LOD for day and night. You'll find values like;

    Day 10,000 / 40,000
    Night 9,000 / 15,000

Drop the second value of the day down to about 18k and watch the fps soar. Tweak it to your own tastes.

With your system you should get good FPS with medium settings - perhaps with water turned down.

Aha, thought the slide show bit was going to bring a few people in! Sorry to dissapoint! Going to try it at the lowest settings to see if it is playable, I know it's the graphics card that is the weak link and am definately looking at getting an X800 sometime this year but just bought a new laptop so I'm skint. As for the X800, has anyone played LOMAC on one of those, should be sweeet!

is LOMAC fussy about DRIVERS like IL-2 is?

Cos if SO......we all use Catalyst 4.2's....still available from ATI

    http://www.ati.com/support/products/...usdrivers.html

makes a HUGE difference to Il2 FB and AEP

hope you sort it....I never have yet..but that's FLIGHT not FPS

Knackers. That's about all I have to say. Got LOMAC on the default low settings, and changed the graphics.cfg as Lowe suggested and it's still sluggish! Not impressed at all. And since I've put the 1.2 patch on my rudder and throttle don't work on my Evo Not having fun with it at all, thankfully IL2 still runs nicely (although I don't have AEP so not really got online with it all that much). SOOOOO, pants pants pants pants pants is about all I have to say at the moment ..... oh, and I'm a frustrated gamer, bring an X800 here!

Your controls would of been remapped when applying the patch, hence the loss of throttle and rudder.

By sluggish, what sort of FPS are we talking about? Press CTRL and Backspace, then look up to the top left of your screen. You'll see the FPS in yellow. To be honest, LOMAC is such a computer hog with all but the most powerful of machines you'll be getting about 30fps when in cockpit looking forward. I tend to run at about 25fps, dropping down to about 15 when on the ground.

Don't be expecting 60-70fps all the time with decent detail levels. No computer on the planet can run it flat out!

By sluggish I mean that after reinstalling the Cat4.2's, fiddling about and pretty much turning everything off, went for a spin in the A10, and when buzzing tanks (particularly when flying through smoke) the fps were down to 1-4, even with everything running pretty much as low as I can make it. Will see what figures I actually get using the CTRL-backspace thingumy this evening.

As for 60-70fps, this is why I'm saving up for an X800!!!!

p.s. Also, having plugged my brain in again, I remapped all my controls - doh, much foolishness!

Hmm, I've not seen it drop down to that low a level. I'm not using Cat 4.2s, they're for IL2

I'm using the last but one set of Omegadrivers

I'll try anything at the moment, I want to get into this game, but when the fps drop to the levels they are on mine, it kinda puts you off It'll get there sooner or later, I have faith!

p.s. Do you have a convenient link to somewhere to download the Omega drivers?? Much appreciated once again good sirs!
