Sadly Thatch it took me no time to find at all, but I’m glad to see you are at least admitting such instances take place albeit classing them as accidents.
I’d go further though and suggest an accident is something that happens once, or maybe twice but such trespass happened so often that the burns inquiry concluded that there were too many cases of trespass, disruption and disturbance. This IMHO makes them a little more than accidents, a view I’d suggest is supported by Nick Fawcett, Master of the Surrey Union Fox Hounds when he stated "I don't think I've seen a meet this year where we've not gone through somebody's back garden."

However, this is something that we don’t need to worry about anymore as hunting as such has been banned. Drag hunting, flushing out a fox with two dogs to be shot and of course exercising hounds is allowed but chasing a fox is not. If a hunt is thus found to be trespassing it will be clear that they are breaking the law and instances of continued trespass will rightfully result in a conviction.

Saying this though, trespass was not my only reason for wanting a ban but one of many which include.
    1) Like badger baiting and cock fighting, hunting is cruel and had no place in society.
    2) It was not pest control, but licensed cruelty.
    3) People can still enjoy a ride through drag hunting, where a fox isn’t chased to exhaustion before being ripped apart.

I notice you talk of sabs, but equally I could point to the news report on Sunday where a reporter filmed around 7 hunt thugs repeatedly kicking and punching a hunt monitor to the floor where the beating continued. The person was taken to hospital suffering numerous injuries including cracked ribs.

To be honest I didn’t expect anything less than the turnout on Saturday and as long as the hunts remain within the law then I have no complaints whatsoever. I didn’t expect there to be mass arrests or want there to be either. What will happen is a continued monitoring, followed by prosecutions for any hunts that think they are above the law. Hopefully there will be none and instead they will find that drag hunting offers just as much entertainment without the cruelty.

Got bored of reading most of this but i gave it my best shot.

I think its sad that the fox hunting issue took up over 250 hours of commons time
when the iraq war took just 40.

    Some points,

Why is it necessary to have a big social gathering when there is a fox hunt.
Why not just have a social gathering anyway.

Why does it take 100 dogs to hunt the foxes ? why not just use 5.

If they know where these foxes live why dont they put cage traps there.
I think that people that say that this is the most economically and humane
way of dealing with foxes are deluding themselves.

Im glad its banned from the point of view that people are taking enjoyment from
hunting a fox in that way. If hunting foxes is ok because they are vermin why isnt
    hunting chavs ok....

Saturday. Start of a new era.

I am very happy with Saturday's turn out at Barham and Wye in Kent.

There were more people than I have ever seen before thanks to the new 'law'

    Nice work TB

Good to see isn't it skins ? There have been improved showings at most meets, everyone is very keen to show we're far far from beaten !

If that monkey Blair thinks his bank bench cronies can crush centuries of tradition and a whole community of people with a law like that he's very sadly mistaken. Almost as mistaken as those poor ignorant people who seem to think Foxes are now much better off !!

I have said it before, to my mind it's nothing more than a very ill-conceived class war by some sad mis-guided socialists with very deranged ideas about countryside issues and animal management.

Cock fighting was 'tradition' but that got banned a few years ago. Where's the difference?

    Cool

I see lurchers taken foxes regular and its certainly more entertaining than hare coursing.
Cock fighting is an underground sport that has carried on despite the ban and you can still see dogs fighting if thats what floats your boat.

    All banned

    All still practised

    Thatch,
Do you think the numbers will keep on rising or peak out soon?
I noticed quite a few of the terrier men spoiling to crack some noggins on Saturday. Anti's will need crash helmets soon

    Interesting post.

Just goes to further reveal the thugs that are involved in fox hunting. Although I have been pointing this out for some time, it carries so much more weight when you have those who are pro hunting pointing out the violent and law breaking intention of those involved in such a barbaric sport.

The antis havn't been shy in the past of dishing out a few knocks of their own in the past. It goes both ways so report it as going both ways.

One person states that [in their opinion] the terrier men were spoiling to crack a few heads. Nothing there about actually cracking heads. Chriscom immediately leaps on it and decides that on the strength of that statememt there must have been a gang of thugs there. 'Just goes to further reveal the thugs that are involved in foxhunting'. Of course as it's fox hunting they must naturally be thugs. To be fair if I was confronted by a group of people who wanted to take away my livelihood I may not be overflowing with the milk of human kindness towards them. I might even be spoiling to crack a few heads. After all, this is how I might feed my family. Whether you agree with it or not. Try looking at both sides before you make such a damning statement.

Personally I couldn't give a stuff either way. If the two sides want to knock lumps out of each other, fine with me. My personal argument is the way the legislation has been imposed and the belief that the 'why' is nothing to do with the way the govt has promoted it.

As it happens I've been on the receiving end of 'animal rights' abuse/violence when my only crime was to work for a company who had a facility on the same road as the activists target. When we drove through their impromptu road block to get to our site we were threatened with retribution for breaking their picket line. We were threatened and abused daily and physically stopped from going to and from work. On some days we had a police escort for our own safety. I reiterate. We had nothing to do with the industry they were protesting against. But hey, these were animal rights activists so they can't be thugs, can they?

It's a two way street. Both sides have hotheads in their ranks.
