So, did anybody else see this last night?

Was I the only one who was thinking the whole way through 'yes, I can see these things are going on but can somebody please explain to me what the hell the problem is with that?'.

As an example, at one point the reporter was offered sex with 2 girls for £300 which they made a massive deal out of, but honestly I cannot see what the problem is. As a liberal I am in favour of legalising prostitution. I do not see what business it is of the government to interfere with such a transaction among consenting adults and I do not see what possible harm it is doing to society as a whole.

The only 'potential damage' anybody could come up with in the program was by some woman in Newquay who had to explain to her daughter what a gentleman's club was. I mean, so fecking what??? She could have just said it was a men only drinking club or anything she wanted there was nothing to get upset about imo.

So overall, I am in favour of the sleaze, bring it on.

Like most things there's never any sensible debate, just knee-jerk reactions. I didn't see the show but don't see the problem if people are into this kind of thing.

For me a lap dancing club is akin to going to a nice restaurant, paying for a delicious (and overpriced) meal and then only being allowed to look at it and not eat it.

Of course, if you factor in concerns about human trafficking and the sex trade then it does raise some moral questions - I've never been with a prostitute and wouldn't want to. A well-travelled mate of mine has some real.. erm... horror stories.. of some of the lap dancing clubs in other countries so what goes on over here sounds pretty tame in comparison. His girlfriend is also a lap/exotic dancer and is paying her way through college with what she earns. So long as the girls are there out of choice and are happy to earn the money from the punters then good luck to them.

Prostitution not being legal is the crime. Governments really need to start accepting that you cannot control fundamental human behaviour by decree. And there is not a lot more fundamental human behaviour-wise than sex.

I mean, get a goddamn clue! Legalise it, regulate it, tax it. Everyone's a winner. Particularly the women who are no-longer hanging about on the street being pimped out by bottom feeding thugs.

Well, yes they were talking a lot about breaking licensing restrictions. To me the restrictions don't make a lot of sense anyway and seem to be an obvious weapon for the council to close down any establishments that generate sufficient moral outrage. I mean they even showed how ridiculous the 3ft rule was by having a bloke walk down a street trying to maintain a 3ft distance from anybody else and it wasn't very easy for him.

Seriously tho i felt sorry for the residents having to live over the top of one these places and the one on the high street facing the college that was a joke. If they insist on having them don't put them next to coffe shops imagine having i nice brew and your daughter starts with the "hey whats that place sell dad?"..

Exactly why is it so wrong to have them on the high street, over the road from a college, next to a church (a bloody church ffs, as if there wasn't more depravity in the church)?

People go on like its a given that these things are unacceptable but I have yet to hear a good reason why.

Having just come back from my stag do, I wish I hadn't walked into the living room last night and sat down next to Future Mrs C to stupidly ask "what you watching?"

If it was over the road fro ma college I imagine the students would use the facilities a lot

I am not against prostitution...I'm actually for it (as the late George Carlin said: "If selling is legal, and f***ing is legal......why isn't selling f***ing legal?!?") but agree it should be regulated and controlled, making something illegal makes it difficult to practics safely, making it legal and regulated makes it easier and safer.

I don't see where you're coming from no.

Are you unable to control yourself while aroused? Do you become some sort of goat boy ready to rape the nearest table or bike? I highly doubt that is the case and I think you're really not being objective in your risk assessment here. Children are statistically more at risk with family members as I am sure you're aware, so maybe you should be more concerned about that than some vague potential correlation with lapdancing and rape.

To be honest I dont think its outright obvious that prostitution is illegal. Thanks to the media and I think one specific show in particular on ITV glamorising the life of an escort girl I dont really see anyone making a fuss over that. Or is someone going to argue that escort girls are not actually prostitutes?
