Other than that - all good points. The protest has got people talking about it here, some people who saw it probably looked up the production techniques of Foie Gras, and some may have been surprised at how it is made. If that happened then the protest was a success.

That said, I prefer to distance myself from PETA et al, a lot of their tactics are far less savoury than this.

I actually laugh at the ignorance in this thread, I bet half of you don't even know what Foie Gras is, and because it's PETA, you automatically jump on the bandwagon and go against them.

Yes, PETA are utter idiots, and if I could, I'd shove a plateload of cows testicals down their throats, but the truth is, if I can distance myself from a cruel food, then I will. Yes no animal that is fed to grow and die has a "wonderful" life, but no one would like a load of food forced down their throats, and like someone said, 5 times a day.

I'm not a sensitive person at all, but I won't eat Foie Gras.

    Most really don't.

For the simple reason you don't need to do it 5 times a day, its an expense, thats not required, so why would farmers do it?

Mea culpa. You got me there.

I would condemn the pedantry ..... if it wasn't that I'd have told you the same thing had you goofed like that.

Here's my petard .... know a good tree I can be hoisted from?

I laughed quite loudly when I read that

More on topic, I dislike PETA; human problems (homeless/poverty etc) are greater than animal problems so they should be worrying about people, not the poor geese being fed to death, in my opinion.

I also dislike PETA, but as has been said earlier in this very thread it sounds like you are suggesting that the 2 are mutually exclusive, ie that by suggesting people think about where their food comes from and the methods used to gain it you are effectively locking a family in a house and setting fire to it. Your logic is flawed.

Re: Apparently they actually managed 45 minuites!

I say we combine the two.

    Bacon Explosion with cheese!

I feel like the person who looked at a weave of bacon and said "you know, this could be covered in cheese," probably felt similar to how Dr. Jonas Salk felt when he discovered a vaccine for Polio. Although, one probably got laid that night, whereas the other was alone. I'll let you decide which.

I was chopping some bacon for another dish the other day and attempted a 3 x 3 lattice with it. I have to say regular bacon just isn't the right shape for it
