    Petrol prices...

Anyone else noticed these have been creeping up and up lately? Was paying about 77-78p per litre about a month and a half ago. Seen it creep to 79p, 80p, it was 81.9p on Monday and today it's 83.9p.

    It's getting ridiculous.

It was 81.9 round here in rip-of Oxfordshire till mid last week and its suddenly 84.9 most places, with the few 'cheap' places at 83.9. Don't know if its budget related cos I didn't watch the damned thing...?

Makes LPG conversion tempting but I'm worried it'll suddenly get slapped with a big tax and ruin the investment.

Pretty much the same here - 11 SEK per liter which is around 84p, and there is a strong suspicion it will hit 13 SEK soon (basically £1/liter).

the price rises are directly related to the price of crude brent and the supply, given the massive demands from China for more oil based requirements with the level of its growth so massive the OPEC cartel have had to increase the production by an extra 500,000 barrels a day to try to combat the instability in the market which is reflected by the price, with one party dictating output the price will never drop much more than 79.9 and lets face it thats because 85% or something like that of the cost of fuel in the UK is taxes.

If I was the government, in the lead up to the election I would have dropped a penny off fuel duty, sounds very little, but to the transportation business its a massive difference and to thier prospects, a massive difference.

absolutely, mind you for the first time ever I thought of Jeremy Clarkson as i watched all the reps fill up thier A4's and Jag's at the petrol pumps this evening when i was in the queue.

His new GT40 need three stops to get petrol on his drive to the Top Gear studios, thats like gonna cost him £150 return for the 120 mile round trip LMAO, loony.

Petrol prices suck, but its a commodity we cannot do without.

One of the many problems the MG is plagued with. When I first got the car fuel consumption was fine, about 100 miles per £10. However, it's been running like crap lately. I'm lucky to get 70 miles out of £10, right now my needle is past the minus line, I've done 50 miles out of the last £10 I put in. So it's averaging about 25mpg, maybe a bit more. My brother gets almost that in his Scooby!

Other people on the MG forums have also suffered this, so it's not some one off thing with my car.

Reading about the ITR forums and people there seem to get fairly decent fuel consumption. It's not how much fuel the MG is costing me, but how much it costs for such a small engine. If I'm going to get crap economy like that I may as well be driving something a little more powerful.

I get more than that out of my 14 year old Lexus LS400! Recently did 250 miles on £25 of petrol. Mind you it was mostly motorways, and I was sticking to speed limits. God, it was boring.
