lol, I think I pretty much agree... but smoking anything and asthma = BAD idea!

The active ingredient in Cannabis tetrawotsitwotsit (can't remember the name) opens the bronchial tubes, and therefore is beneficial to asthma sufferers. It has much the same effect as an inhaler.

The active drug doesn't have to be smoked to be beneficial, it can be taken orally.

And Russ: Understanding, and moderation, is all.

To lump all drugs into one bag is a serious misunderstanding. The only 'drugs' I'll put into my body, personally are alchohol and puff. And only then in moderation, unless I'm at Glastonbury Festival or something, then I will occasionally over-indulge.

As for me using drugs (eek, that sounds so tabloid and scary, hehe) after my friend dying, I sometimes take a toke, he mainlined. He actually died trying to prove to his girlfriend that heroin was a bad thing. He said to her 'look what this does to me, maybe it'll put you off'. He injected, and was dead within ten minutes.

The stuff he took was unusually pure, he hadn't taken it before, and it killed him.

The other friend who died was a long term junkie, I hardly knew him when he died.

Tetrahydrocannabinol. But the reason you take the other inhaler (the stroid) is surely to prevent the chronic problems you get with asthma, which cannabis certainly wouldnt help with

smoking pure marijuana is meant to be good for asthma as it opens up your alveoli in the lungs but most folk cant afford to smoke pure +on top of that is the downside of the tickly cough you get after every toke lol. + sry to hear about ur m8s but it was a silly thing to do and if it was his first time what was he doin mainlining. i know its not rocket science but he has to have learnt somewhere?. cos i dont know ne1 silly enough to try and do that unless they actually wanted to. Perhaps deep down he did. but still a waste of life

weed is a bronchial dialator, which means it opens up the bronchioles in your lungs so you can breath in more air/smoke. i have asthma, and it used to be awful a few years back, but i smoke weed now and it ain't half as bad as it used to be. peace.
p.s. sorry to hear about your mates, heroin is evil sh*te

    Punky, thanks for clarifying that

I had Asthma as a kid, but since then only suffered it the once, brought on by a severe allergy to horses, the only thing I'm allergic to.

Thanks, all, for condolences for Dave, yes, he was foolish, but as ever, he really was one of the good guys, why does it always happen to them? It still hurts when I think about it, just a bloody waste of life, he was a trainee architect.

The other fella, well, you could see it coming really, he was a mate at school, but drifted away after a few years.

cannabinoids take the place of neurotransmitters within the brain and thus alter brain activity - hence why sufferers of certain degenerative diseases feel better after a 'hit', it gives the user neurotransmitter levels similar to those under normal conditions - or at least prevent painful stimuli reaching the sensory cortex...
the activation of relaxing the bronchiols within the ungs is off-set by the damage done to the alveolae...they break down and slowly you die of apnea. so all in all its not great but if it gives you a bit more time then go for it.

Voted yes. If booze and ciggies are legal, then I see no reason for a joint to be a great evil.

I don’t like spreading my life around the net, but since I don’t know any of you in real life, and will never meet any of you, here it goes.

My uncle started smoking weed at 17, at the age of 19 our whole family knew, and tried telling him to stop, he said he wasn’t addicted and could give it up. My uncle then moved on to bigger drugs, heroin, crack cocaine, etc, he went into rehab at the age of 24. Rehab didn’t work, he still smokes weed and uses crack. He is now 28 has 2 children, and a job which pays him £250 a week for him and his family to live on, and keep in mind he needs money to buy drugs which are not cheap.

At this point in time, my 23-year-old cousin is hooked on weed; he looks set to go down the same road.

My ex-girlfriend who is now 19 started off smoking weed at the age of 16, and she recently told me she had tried heroin 2 weeks ago.

The way I see it, weed smokers tend to get bored, and try something else, which in the end ruins their life. There are no good reasons to smoke weed, or take any drugs.

IMO, peer pressure is to blame for most of it, people tend to be insecure about themselves, and need something to justify that they are “cool” or to prove that they are a “big man”. Breaking the rules and disobeying your parents is the new “cool” thing to do, so what’s easier than smoking.

Here is a quote from a very wise man

    “drugs are bad, um k”

i think someone has been on the crack - Mr Mackay is a cartoon character! weed aint bad for ya, its only if you lack self control and are surrounded by dealerss and users of harder drugs. 'dam style coffeeshops would help solve that meitnks....

Some people have an addictive personality, and some people get bored with real life. These two are a bad combination.

The problem with cannabis atm is that society now considers it 'OK' but you still have to deal with some dodgy scaghead in order to obtain it (who also sells other stuff). We need to either legalize it or go 'zero tollerence'. The current situation should not be allow to last.

Lets consider the four other major drugs in our lives:
    1) Caffeine and chocolate - whole ruddy nations addicted to it. I'm just trying to make a point with this one, the way that some things are classed as drugs and some not. Where do we draw the line?
    2) Alcohol. people tend to get aggressive, leary, and develop even less respect for other people. Is this good for society? Also excessive use can be very, very bad for you.
    3) Nicotene. Well, it doesn't harm anyone else, unless you're stuck in a confined space - and then the smoker will normally pop outside for a smoke anyway. Very, very addictive (same level as heroin). Very bad for you. Don't start about your tax money going on looking after smokers - tax on cigarettes virtually pays for the NHS.

Looking at the last two, hash doesn't seem too bad. Legalized, people wouldn't have to use dealers, and wouldn't be exposed to harder drugs. Can you imagine gangs of stoned people terrorising neighbourhoods? They'd be more interested in staring at the ceiling.

By the way - a little perspective. I'm a moderate drinker (5-6 units). I smoke (smoked for 3 years, gave up for 3 years, started again about 6 months ago. during the 3 years of not smoking, not a day went by when I didn't want one. Hate it). I used to do weed, and occaisional speed. I haven't done any of those for about 6 years now. Have no interest in it either. Since we're in a southpark quoting mood, kyle says 'drugs make you happy being bored'. I'm happy not being bored.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.
