My olnly real problem with legalising it is that most people tend to mix it with diggy tobacco which actually IS bad for you. Anything that encourages tobacco smoking is iffy. Maybe the government should send out leaflets to the public showing them how to make bongs to solve this problem?

legalising canabis would only mean more people would start smoking, especially teenagers who dont know any better. before you know it, our whole country would just be a bunch of morons walking around the streets high as hell. Its better the way it is.

I concur. It's bad enough having so many under 16's smoking tobacco as it is, legalise cannabis and they'll ALL be smoking weed, ruining their schooling and ruining their lives.

There may be some truth in that, but...

Make puff legal, it takes away the 'outlaw' factor. So instead of taking a toke and thinking they're completely cool for defying the law, I'm sure a lot wouldn't even go near it if it were legalised, kinda takes away the novelty factor.

If it was legalised, it would probably be viewed as just another dumb habit similar to cigarettes.

    Maybe.

    hmmm....i smell bovine excrement....
in the UK, 35% of teenagers have tried cannabis. in holland, where cannabis is freely available, only 28% have tried it.....maybe the taboo factor and lack of education should be blamed for teenage experimentation?

and for the cannabis oils thing...
are you refering to hemp oil for use in cosmetics, or cannabis oil used to get amazingly high?
hemp oil is one of the most nutritionally balanced essential oil known to man, thus making it good. hash oil batters the hell outta ya, thus making it also good . peace.

You can’t just compare a random country that doesn’t speak English and is not influenced by hip-hop culture, which glorifies drugs, and fire arms. And you should try to compare their population to ours, and then those statistics are not as impressive anymore. And you cant believe statistics, who did the research? How many people took part?

I blame gangsta rap for most of the weed smokers around where I live. I see kids as young as 7 smoking, and talking about guns. It sickens me.

    1. i smell xenophobia..."oh yeh, they don't speak english, thus making them idiots" have you ever been to Holland!? they all speak near-perfect english! most are also fluent in german or chinese etc.., due to the vast variation in the population

    2. they love hip-hop! they have so many shops sellin hip-hop style clothes, posters of all the 'gangsta' rappers and a lot of hip-hop gigs on - i missed seeing Redman there by 3 days when i was over there this summer.

    3. hip-hop does not always intentionally glorify drugs and firearms. mostly, it is just the artists telling the story of their ives, if you will. that stuff happens to a lot of people, and you cannot censor real life just because it may influence our kids.

sorry, but that post really p*ssed me off. peace.

I was about to post something similar

you took the words right out of my mouth

    it's there

singing about it doesn't suddenly wake up 1000's to the fact it's there, cos it is there

it's true life, good or bad, it exists

if anything, it's an education, it brings awareness

anybody with any small amount of suss will work it out for themselves

those that would be influenced by the lyrics to a pop song are lost anyway

Trust me, come down to Brixton and Stockwell, try to live down here for 7 years, and then try to tell me that the youth down here are not influenced by gangsta rap. And most rap is not about rappers telling thier life story, becuase im a huge hip hop fan.

Also, this entire thread is mostly weed smokers vs non weed smokers, and no one wants to give.

Its not down to the tunes m8 its down to the fact that the little kiddies wanna appear cool to all their m8s.

Nothing influences people more than their own outward appearance and im glad im a sad geeky mofo cos lifes a lot easier this way.

what is rap about then? and how can you blame hip-hop for something you are against, when you say you love hip-hop? thats just hypocritical.
as for the last quote - there are quite a few of people on here who don't smoke weed but are sticking up for it. this thread has been goin for ages, and i suggest you read through it before you make comments like that.

There are many Genres of Hip Hop, I like the party hip hop and any music by NaS. Yes, I love hip hop, but not the gangsta rap, I've heard it all before, people like 50 cent talk about stuff which I have heard before many times by countless other rappers.

Back to the point I was making, nearly all the youth in Brixton, stockwell, and areas around here, are very much influenced by gangsta rap, they want to have the rings, chains, guns and smoke weed.

And I did say most of this thread was weed smokers vs non weed smokers, I didnt say all of the thread was.

I'm very familiar with your area, DL, I've worked in almost every school and college round there and lambeth Town Hall in Brixton on and off over several years.

Stockwell park School - is that near you? I've repaired their tannoy system many times, spent a lot of time in there, picked up on the vibe. I'm a white fella, picked up mostly good vibes in that place, unlike some other schools I've worked in, especially in Southwark & Camden.

As for you thinking it's a non versus pro issue in this thread, I'd say you're wrong. If that's how you choose to view it, in my humble opinion you're detecting hostility that just isn't there.

All I see is agood natured and mostly sensible debate. Often hostility is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps try looking at things from a different angle.

I mean, I'm basically for legalising it, but I have my doubts and concerns, and I do take on board the POV of those who are against legalising the stuff.
