    ASUS 5770 potential RMA

    Hello

I have purchased 2 of these cards to us in crossfire on 2 separate orders. The first one I purchased not long after launch. This has experienced problems since day 1. When in idle mode such as web browsing the card will show artifacts on screen and constantly recover the driver and sometimes hard lock. There are several threads on various forums with this same issue. It happens when using 2d as the card downclocks itself to 157 core and 300 memory and also lowers voltage. This is what is causing the problem. The work around is setting up a profile in catalyst driver and amending the downclocks to 300 core and 600 memory and up the voltage to near stock levels. This completely eradicates the problem for me but the card isn't running as it should.

The second card I purchased about a week ago doesn't exhibit this problem and I notice it has a different cooler and heatsink.

Where do I stand on rma on this card? I don't want to send it off for somebody to test in a pc running a 3d app and rejecting it as its ok.

Have you logged this down on the website for a possible RMA?

Please remember that the first point of contact should be our online query system on the Scan website. The forum is supplementary to that, not a replacement.

I've logged the details down - assuming its from the order you placed in october?

Impatient and quite rude tbh, so what, you have had to wait for a bit. Get a grip.

I do know this but this is an unusual problem and I am worried if I just return it somebody will test in 3d apps and it will appear ok also I wanted to make sure it will be accepted. Other threads newer than mine have received replies and don't think its too much to ask for a reply at least particulary with amount of money i have spent over the years. I even bumped the thread and nothing but as soon as I put my last comment instant reaction.

There have been a lot of graphics card threads over the last year or so that haven't really favoured the consumer so wanted a quick heads up thats all.

Yes it is from october order.

    Thanks

Sorry for the delay, we are exceptionally busy. I have issued an RMA and put on it all of the notes from this forum.

    Re: ASUS 5770 potential RMA

This card has been tested today and it lokks like it has just been tested in 3d apps so my original message doesn't look like its been adhered too.

The problem is when card idling in 2d mode such as web browsing, its when the card downclocks itself. I didn't have any problems with it in 3d mode when playing games. When web browsing once it started to act up it was unusable. I haven't had a single problem with the second card I purchased. I haven't yet used these in xfire as was no real point if the the one card wasn't working properly.

    Can this please be sorted.

quoted below is tech Lee notes.

"Possibly incompatible with other card in XFire.

Running fine in my bench - been running FarCry2 for about an hour - 1920 - Ultra High - 8xAA. Temps are fine in GPUz."

    Hi

We've managed to locate the fault, it was nothing specific with 2d, just that the fan keeps catching on the casing, causing the card to randomly overheat !!!!

    Thanks for that.

What is the next step as I notice this card is currently out of stock. I would like this sorted before xmas so if stock isn't received before then can I have a refund?

How long are refunds taking to complete at the moment? This RMA was completed exactly a week ago but no refund as yet.
