Re: i7 920 bundle: temps too high?

I got exactly same issue but mine temps are 90c in prime 95 and 100 in Intel burnt test. It is a scan bundle difference is that I have Akasa venom instead megahalem. Checked heatsink it sits firmly in socket.
    Any suggestions?

Given the set-up I'd think 75C is acceptable. Your core temp "high" doesn't go above 60 on any of the cores, does this represent multiple sessions, or just the highest temp recorded since the program was last loaded?
The previous pic is just showing the temps since the program was loaded.

    here it is under prime

I guess its not too bad...the machine seems stable which is ofcourse the good thing in all this.

Would be great to know of other people who bought the same bundle and their temps.

well, it's over 2 years on and i have an interesting conclusion to this mystery (!)

I get down to poke around as i always do (!) to figure out why im getting pops and clicks in audio, and why it's always so damn hot!
This time I meaningfully place my hand in front of the fan, and i can feel warm air blowing towards me. For some stupid reason, I never thought it possible, since I have never taken the fan off since taking delivery, but...

As far as i am aware, the fan had been installed the wrong way round.

I reversed it and now im seeing temps drop to a more reasonable 40c idle, 60c load.

yeah, i know...what to think eh?

    and on that bombshell, goodnight!

Which fan? If you mean the CPU fan it's meant to take heat away from the CPU/heatsink not push air onto it as you may of now setup.

its a Megahalems cooler with Akasa fan.So now the air is flowing through the cooler, and passing through to the exhaust fan. Before, it was installed sucking air away from the CPU and into the case.
