I have a LFD 2 disk, which we are testing with your drive.

It's a PC DVD LFD2 UK Version, the revision shouldn't make a difference but if it does then this is an issue with the disk and not the drive itself.
Let's see what happens...
razer121
Your drive has been thoroughly tested with the LFD2 disk with no issues at all. We can only conclude the media you have is faulty as we have not been able to produce a fault with your optical drive.
Best Regards
well that is odd...so my l4d disk works in all my rigs yet no in this optical drive? although im doubtfull and would like video proof im not guna ask, but again ive got no phone at the moment so can only ask from here the item is returned.

Were not making this up dude, if the drive was faulty we would return it to the manufacturer's. We have nothing to gain by telling you the drive isn't faulty. We cannot produce any fault with the drive.
If you would really photographic proof this can be arranged, we have no means of providing video's.
Regards
So the item arrived back, with a few changes aswell! for starters where did this come from?
A little scuff dent, not that this is major but not exspected, but down to the point! take a look at this video.

And now try and tell me the dvd drive is fine? you watched the video right? would you like a demonstration in anouther pc? maybe a few laptops loading this disk aswell? you can clearly see the disk is not in bad condition.
Did you test as i asked? or just put the disk in and let it read once? so far ive managed to get this damn drive to read my disk once, even then it took it forever!
So, am i a happy customer of scans still? no, would i use scan again? properly but i will avoid at all costs, Saying the drive works and then me proving it wrong...funny that is it not? you said that you tested a disk out but have no proof? ive got SOLID proof right here so now tell me i'm wrong and there is "NO FAULT FOUND" as i can CONSISTENTLY replecate this problem, yes if i constantly put the disk in and out it may load, but the point is this, should a drive of its age (what 5 months now?) do this?
You have really wound me up with this but what am i to do, yes i could take it further, but what is the point? scan obviously dont like it when an item gos wrong and wont refund EVEN WHEN PROVEN WRONG.
So, after that what do you have to say? im intrested to here the next excuse.
I've got the same problem, with the same drive (actually two - both from Scan).
Mine is also the SH-s223C.
I've never had an issue with burned media on it, but it randomly won't work with retail pressed disks. These are *not* copies, but original disks that I've opened from a fresh package.
I have about 3 disks it won't read which is a major pain as every other drive will read them fine. Having a Google about and we are not the only ones Razer. I've updated the firmware and it made no difference. At the moment I'm having to copy the disks locally over the network. Nightmare.
I won't link out of courtesy to Scan, but if you look at the reviews at another retailer for the same drive, there are several reviews of people having the same problem.
Not going to RMA them as it's only on some disks, and I don't have the time to risk NFFs.
The disks spin up but just make a non-stop spinning / whiring sound.
I'm wondering if the pot is set wrong internally on the drive. For what these drives cost I might just open it and have a play with a multimeter.
