Hi Scan support,
I bought OCZ/OCZSSD22VTXE120G on June 16,and did not use it as I was waiting for my new macbook.
I noticed straight away that the drive was slower\smaller formatted size compared my other OCZSSD22VTXE120G. At work they purchased 12 of these drives and they found that 5 of them were also experience the same issue as me.
After they investigated this issue they found that these drives were not the same type as the other 7 and that OCZ was using a bigger SSD die 64GB instead of 32GB and due to the new 2Xnm process the speed was affected also. Link to OCZ forums http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/fo...OCZ-SSD-drives
After having installed boot camp in my Mac I was able to run some tests to confirm if I was correct in my assumption that there was a speed drop and smaller formatted size.
Our IT department has had to send them back to OCZ on RMA and this is still ongoing after 2 months.
Seeing as I bought these recently from scan I would like to deal with Scan for a replacement and not directly with OCZ.
I have two questions for Scan regarding this:
1. OCZ made their sellers aware of this in early of this year (February I believe), and other shops have been displaying correct speeds and mentioning that these are using 2Xnm process. Why didn't Scan do the same so that us the buyers were aware of this at the time of purchase?
2. How can I go about replacing this drive with the one I wanted and was advertised?
I appreciate your reply on this matter.
Regards,
Hugo
