    Re: RMA Issues

In addition to the above we have spoken to Gigabyte for clarification of there process and they confirm:

I am informed though that the item was cleaned before inspection and tested twice, where it is left on test and fault diagnosis is run. If it passes the engineers set out testing procedure, it is then handed to our tester who carries out the same sort of procedure.

It could have been this cleaning process which resolved the problem, IE the fan could have been affected by dust reducing the reliability and thus cleaning it resolved the issue.

I can only speculate but obviously something has resolved the problem that was there initially.

    Re: RMA Issues

So it was faulty, then it wasn't now it may be dust ?

Oh, Scan, come on, please !

The card was thoroughly cleaned as part of the testing before the RMA and again before being shipped back to you the first time.

As for dust clogging the fans - have you seen the card ?

I think it would have been quite obvious, no ?

This thread may be of interest, as it seems this is a common problem LINK

If this wasn't so mind numbingly frustrating it would be almost funny ........

    Re: RMA Issues

As i said I am only speculating, the only thing I can say with certainity is that the card is not currently faulty, the card is still running in the test bench sucessfully, thats around 21 hours now.

    Re: RMA Issues

Are all the test benches the same spec?

If you read the link (lengthy as the post is) it clearly demonstrates that this exact problem exists on a lot of 4 and 5 series nVidia cards (Gigabtes included) and Gigabyte have acknowledged it can happen (and have refunded / replaced) others cards as it can be an intermittent hardware incompatibility issue

If the rigs are different specs would you indulge testing on the other rigs ? An i don;t mean 18 hours plus just does it boot into windows and run under load.

The simple fact of the matter is that it does not run on two rigs here and is therefore useless

    Thanks

Yes, each bench is different specification to the other.

    Re: RMA Issues

I can confirm the card has been tested now on 3 further benches and will shortly be tested on the final 4th extra bench, bringing the total systems tested on to 5.

The card has passed in all systems currently, we are just left to test in an AMD system.

    SAS,

I'm sorry but we have gone way beyond our standard procedures here, the card will now be returned to you.
