Question Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

    Hello Scan,

Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to cancel two orders which are due tomorrow - E1883670 & E1883382.

Am I able to do this, as they have already been shipped - Can I tell the DPD delivery guy they've been cancelled and he will take them back? I'm going to ring up in the morning to make sure, but if I can't have these orders cancelled then I'm going to be in a lot of debt

Re: Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

I would return them under DSR, however I am going to get charged for them and I don't have the money for them anymore. (I paid through PayPal and don't have an overdraft on my account. So basically I'm gonna get absolutely shafted by PayPal!)

DSR'ing them means paying fees to ship them back and getting a refund *within* 28 days and not instantly? I just hope the issue can be resolved otherwise I'm gonna be in a lot of debt due to issues out of my hands, I'm freaking out

If they have been dispatched already then you have already been charged for them, either way, even if you did manage to cancel them now, the transaction has already gone through and you would still have to wait for a refund from the time that Scan receive the items back.

    Aaahhhhh!!!!

I bought the items when I had enough money in the bank to do so, I paid through PayPal. However PayPal haven't charged my bank yet and the money for these two items has had to go on something else and not on treating myself, now I don't have the money for the items and PayPal are going to charge me soon.

I guess this means I have to DSR them?! Can I simply tell the DPD driver they are to be returned?!

Re: Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

    Hi,

You can refuse delivery but please note you will still be charged for delivery as the goods had already been dispatched before your cancellation request. Once the goods have been returned to SCAN we will process a refund back to your paypal account.

    Regards

Thanks guys for the fast support, just spoke to someone on the phone @ SCAN and it's all sorted.

On a good note, the money I could afford to spend just arrived in the form of the BenQ XL2420T 120hz Monitor. CHEERS!

Re: Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

Now I'm freaking out even more.

I received the BenQ monitor in a delivery by itself, with the other parts. When I received this delivery, I rang up SCAN and explain my problem and they said they would cancel the order, and get in contact with DPD to return the delivery. I had a text from DPD saying when the delivery would occur, however they did not come - I assume because the parts have been sent back upon scans request and obviously not delivered.

I have been in the house ALL day and was even in when the 2nd parts were meant to be delivered. As I said, they have not came. I got an email at 5:39pm from DPD saying that my delivery was unsuccessful and that I could choose a day for it to be delivered. Upon trying to do this, it asks for a calling card number - I did not get a delivery or a knock on the door from DPD/a calling card through the door.

As well as this issue of not knowing whether the parts are on the way to SCAN for DSR or not, since I have not seen these parts I have not been able to stick the RMA numbers on the packages I was issued by Gareth when speaking to SCAN this morning. Does this mean that the parts will not be registered by SCAN?! Gareth said it was fine to just send them back the way they were and didn't say anything about the RMA number over the phone, I simply got an email saying that 2 RMA requests have been filled out for refund.

I'm seriously freaking out here, if these parts go missing or SCAN does not register my RMA request because I have not been able to stick an RMA number on them (hell I haven't even seen the van they were sitting in) then I'm going to be ~£500 in debt into a bank account without an overdraft agreement on a student part time job wage. I'm going to ring SCAN again in the morning to ask them directly what is happening.

Re: Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

If it's your first time going into the unplanned overdraft, an email to the bank is usually enough to get the fees returned as a goodwill gesture, it's worked 3 or 4 times for me now when I've had money sitting in the wrong accounts and ended up with an unplanned overdraft and non payment fees, ended up getting ~£60 of (legitimate, it was all my fault for not having the money in the right places) fines back by asking nicely

Just a quick note, as this isn't completely correct (assuming you mean cancellation under the DSRs). From the Office of Fair Trading: '3.35: Where the DSRs give consumers rights to cancel, this right is unconditional. If consumers cancel before they have received the goods you must refund the total price of the goods, including any delivery charges. Consumers who have cancelled under the DSRs may refuse to accept delivery of the goods. Refusal in such a situation cannot be treated as a breach of contract.'.

In other words, cancellation under the DSRs is allowed after dispatch, with a refund including delivery regardless. If the cancellation is sent after receiving the goods, the consumer has to pay the return delivery charge as stipulated by Scan's T&Cs.

He's not cancelling under DSR , he's just cancelling the order. I thought DSR was invoked at the date of delivery there hasn't been a delivery.

Please also note the following which touches on the point made above.

    http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/dis...htsbuying1.pdf

"You may be required to pay for
the cost of returning the goods if you are told about
this in the pre-contract information and it is a term
    of the contract."

As the customer has not paid for the return of the goods and SCAN would be charged for the return carriage back from DPD we would normally deduct this cost from the refund of your goods. The amount charged normally for a collection is £10 so by us not refunding your original delivery you would actually be saving.

    Regards

Re: Cancelling an order that is due tomorrow?

Spoke to a woman on the phone who confirmed the products were indeed on the way back to SCAN and that DPD actually place the RMA numbers on the package for me, however they can't refund me through a different method / any faster (which means I may go into unplanned overdraft).

I'm not bothered about the overdraft, I'm just glad the parts haven't gone missing.

I'm not bothered about the delivery either but cheers for clearing that up Mark.

Excellent service once again and I am very pleased with the BenQ monitor. I shall no doubt be ordering these parts I have had to cancel once I have the funds again! Cheers!
