Well I have £1500 waiting on Scan confirming a G0 stepping since I want to buy a new system but I sure as hell dont want a 115w or 105w version.
Any news scan?

Please read this thread, same answer as previously - Not G0
Sorry
Well thats disappointing then ChrisP
I would have thought you would have some control over Chip steppings considering the stepping gives a better thermal envolope for your customers and your own made systems.
If the stepping had mearly given better overclocking I would understand why you dont track steps or offer step based products on the site. But this more.
Oh well time to shop about then
Thanks for the reply, why the bold name also? I was only hoping for an update on this thread as I had read it and hoped things had changed.

It is impossible to order specific stepping types from Intel .. We would obviously do so if we could because of the obvious advantages
Neither is it fair to split the stock ( if we had G0 ) and make this an available option as we would be left with non G0 stock we cannot sell..
So we are in a difficult position and it has been decided not to split G0 stock ( if we had G0 )
I put name in BOLD every time I reply as you can see in all of my posts, so not meaning to cause any offence
Best Regards
Chris, hi
Another well known e-retailer is advertising both the current 115W and Energy Efficient 95W Edition on there site. While I wont post who as Im not trying to annoy Scan, I am thought drawing you to the fact that it can be done.
As it stands if Scan cant do this I will redirect my money to this other e-retailer, while that may be little in the grand scheme of your daily takings, but consider the overall amount of people who want this product and cant buy from you what they need.
Also a consideration Chris is that a limited amount of people know about the Energy Efficient 95W Edition and they would make up a fraction of the trade on this CPU. A simple price difference would say re direct peoples interest to the 115W edition leaving the savy and knowledgable people to get what they want and need from Scan.
Anyway thats just some food for thought.

Possibly their decision to split the stock they have. Please PM me the retailer and I will look into this for you guys ...
Neither are we trying to annoy anyone, but things like this are sometime just not feasible ..
It is probably true that a limited number of people know about the 95W CPU's, but if we were to advertise the fact there are 2 types then clearly this would change and cause problems
If you can PM me the retailer, I will certainly see if there is anything we can do
I can but try ...
Best Regards

If this well known e-retailer is who I think it is. The 95W edition is on pre-order. Which backs up what fat jez just saidAnd if no where in the UK have these, then you may be waiting a long time for an ETA from that retailer.I don't think anybody in the uk has the G0 steppings yet
Mark we arent talking about having the stock in this minute, talking about the ability to order a 95W edition from Scan. I dont want to go to another retailer and wish Scan can do something to help its customers as well as help itself get more orders.
After all its within everyones interest is it not?
We are looking into doing this. Should have more details later next week.
ChrisP and DavidM thanks for your time and I hope that you can do something for us
Agreed, it is no different to having standard, OC and XXX graphics cards. At the end of the day they are just "cherry picked" samples of the same product.
Chris is correct, Intel dont do business like that. GFX card companyies do as its part of the sanctioned market strategy of ATI or NVidia.
Anyway its not about Overclocking, sure you may get good results from it and make sales from that angle. But its also about a product that has changed with a stepping, to be honest Intel should have put something in place for such a change considering this new stepping reducing what is already a very high thermal output.
Anyway heres hoping for a result and we can all spend lots of cash at Scan
