I had a delivery coming from Scan today. I heard the letterbox rattle and thought it was the postman. Went down and it was a card from City Link saying my parcel had been left with a neighbour! The driver had not even rang the door bell to attempt delivery! What are City Link playing at?

Also are City Link authorised by Scan to leave deliveries with a neighbour?

If they leave a card telling you where they left it I see no harm in it.

And maybe yer doorbell wasnt working properly?

Doorbell works fine.

Reason I ask about if they are allowed to leave with a neighbour is as far as I know they cannot unless Scan authorise them and from previous posts on here they are not authorised to do so.

City link aren't too bad round here though, I feel bad because my dog bit the delivery man (he went to stroke her... guess she doesn't like posties!)

Might have been the neighbour offered to take it in for you though I know I do that for my neighbours to save them a trip to post office/couriers.

Driver should check first is anyone at home and later try to give it to the neighbour. I know people who has such kind of delivery as well. Driver left the card without even pushing the bell, one friend even catch the driver just after and the driver said he assumed that around 12 am no one would be at home and he even did not bother to take package out of the van, just a calling card

Yep, I've had that before. The driver didn't knock and just pushed the note through the letterbox. I heard that and chased after the driver! I got my delivery and he got an earful.

CityLink shoudn't leave it with neighbours unless you authorise them to do so, either by prior arrangement or leaving a signed note on your door - however I seem to be lucky around my way as its always the same driver and I've got to know him well - so if I'm not in he always makes a big effort to leave it with one of my neighbours.

It's a common problem with city link. I think in the future if I am expecting a delivery I will stick a note on the door saying "Yes I am in, and the doorbell works". Though this does of course assume that the city-link monkeys can read.
