Unhappy WD MyBook pro Edition II 1TB Return Woes - City Link again.

Ok... I purchased a 1TB WD MyBook Pro Edition II last week. As I really need storage for some University projects.

I got the unit and was extremely dissappointed as it

    a) suffered from delayed write failures.
    b) was incredibly noisy. Like having a leaf blower sat on your desk.
    c) so hot I fear the drives won't last long.

So I requested an RMA, as the unit is just too noisy for me despite being classed as quiet, having Scan book collection via City Link.

I waited in today for the booked collection from 2:30pm until 5:30pm and no City Link.

Now I am at Uni... and all deliveries go to a main reception... for security. However that reception will not handle returns. I knew this and I gave scan this info to add as a note for the City link driver.

If I check the consignment number, the driver came at 3:49 and claimed "goods were not ready for collection"

I rang up the branch, and the "gentleman" I spoke to didn't seem all that bothered about helping me, I infact believe it's Scan's account manager at citylink Manchester I spoke to. He explained that the driver was refused collection... "it's not always possible for driver to ring the customer" and the name "Chris" means nothing on the notes.

Now... the driver didn't go to the correct address... because if he did he would have rung the bell to my halls...he instead assumed he had to go to the reception, and didn't bother to call at the address on the booked collection...

...so now I have to sort out another collection? Am I going to be charged for this "missed" collection today?

Can someone please give me some idea of what is going to happen.

Called customer services this morning who have rebooked collection for Monday.

You got any Scan flags I can fly from my window so City Link know where to go?

    Thanks

    well... Second failed collection.

They don't appear to have turned up at either the reception or my halls this time. Waiting for the tracking info to be updated.

    I am not amused.

    ** UPDATE **

    Third collection failed...

Why is it you guys won't recompense me for postage costs if I post the parcel to you? Would save me a lot of time.

After this fiasco I shan't be mail ordering anything from you again that's for sure.

I'd just like to throw in my experiences here: Scan have always been damned fast at mailing an RMA back to me. Now City Link, sure, aren't quite so speedy, but in the past they've always appeared on the day that was booked. Browsing these and other forums covering similar subject matter, over the last few years, it would seem that City Link's widely divided reputation is down to their branches. My local branch seems to be pretty reliable, but by the sounds of it, yours isn't.

I do wish Scan would consider another courier though, even if I've had no problems, clearly a lot of other customers have.

I said I won't be buying from scan mail order... which I am sticking by.

I will however drive to them once I return home and buy goods using Q collect in future. My family and I have been using scan for a LONG time now. So quick, friendly and easy.

    This experience however was not.
