    City Link?

why do you use city link? this now means im going to have to travel to a different city to collect my order, after waiting 16 days for dispatch! 20k round trip on public transport the next available day for me to collect is Sat. but seeing as the city link website does not even state if its open on sat. it may get sent back to scan. there is a number for me to ring but its 0870 (markup non geograpic number), what a joke!

Why cant you just use royal mail???

    Re: City Link?

There are many threads criticizing CityLink.

Scan (and others in the retail/mail order sector) have stated that, yes there are isolated problems, but no courier is faultless.

What makes you think that there would be no problems if Scan used Royal Mail?

    Re: City Link?

The issues with Royal mail are deliveries are not properly tracked; this causes issues when trying to track an order and find out exactly where it is. Because of this issues are created with lost/delayed deliveries and as getting a confirmed POD is time consuming and not always easy to receive meaning these issues cannot be effectively resolved.

Citylink have an exceptionally and consistently high success rate for our deliveries and problems are very rare. In recognition of this, we have great deal of faith in their ability to ensure our customers orders arrive on time and in excellent condition. Over the past few years our despatch systems have become more and more integrated with theirs, which now means that the whole process from the point of ordering to the point of delivery is streamlined and informative.

The carriage charge may cost a few pounds more; however you are assured of a fast hastle free delivery. Isolated problems here and there are an unavoidable consequence for any company dealing with such high volumes of deliveries as we do. By having such accurate and detailed information available to base any investigations on, we are able to quickly and effectively resolve any queries.

    Regards

scan what about dhl? are they more expensive than city link?
those bashing city link have problems when they live in a certain area. i've had about 10+ deliveries from city link and all have been perfect and on time (most before expected time).

    Re: City Link?

The main issue with many carriers is their ability to provide a consistant service across the UK. For example, my current employeer works with Parceline and whilst, yes they are consistant at deliveries they're also consistantly damaging items in transit!

There's no magic solution to the issue of carrier companies. The reason Citylink see so many complaints is because that's all that Scan uses and a lot of really large companies use them because they at one time, offered a money back guarentee for delayed deliveries along with good pricing.

    Re: City Link?

I generally find the courier companies to be equal in my area. Apart from the royal mail, who are absolutely awful, next day a parcels always take about 3 extra days for me and the local postie seems to be getting later and later each week.

    Re: City Link?

I have bought my Citylink driver a bottle of wine for Christmas thanking him for the great service he has provided this year. They are not all bad.
It is a pity they cannot be more consistent.

Just a quick question. How has it come about that you've had to collect?

    Re: City Link?

Is there not a day that you or someone could be there? Typically you just give them a ring and rearrange if possible, otherwise its not really scan's fault that the courier is in an inconvenient location for you.
