Help : Components for a Centos Server

    Hi there,

I'm currently buidling another server for one of my websites as it seems to be overloading the poor Intel Celeron . Therefore i'm going to build a 4gb server with a q6600 which i will all be buying from you, however i have a slight problem...

Basically i need some help choosing a motherboard that is under £65, supports an Intel Q6600, supports 4GB RAM and supports Centos and i can't find any infomation on any of the motherboard which says anbout them supporting Centos- which im sure some of them do. So if you could pick me out a motherboard which meets these requirements i'd quite appreciate that.

    Cheers guys,
    Rhys

As far as I know CentOS is based on RedHat, I would assume it supports most of MB would be ok. It is still one of many distributions of Linux, so if drivers are not dedicated just for CentOS but other Linux types Os, they might be still working on CentOS.

Are you sure u need q6600 for a web server - quite powerful CPU for website?

My thoughts indeed, maybe you can save a few ££ with a higher E2 or E4 series dual core? Unless you have some app relying on quad core? In comparison to a celeron p3-p4 even an E2xxx will be another world, use less power, give out less heat etc, might be important to you as its on 24x7?

    Hi there,

Yeah the web server will be used to host all of my websites, all of my clients websites and perhaps a game of Battlefield 2 as well if it can handle it and it seems the Q6600 offers the most bang-for-buck for what i need.
