Chris - does this offer apply to me / my card - which I picked up from Scan last Monday 11th August at approximately 3.30pm ?

Here's the right BIOS for you.

My cards have gone back to BFG. I gave up dealing with Scan and went direct to BFG. Got 3 RMA numbers off them and posted the cards off yesterday. Lets see how long it takes them to get them back to me.

By the way, I love it how scan sold you the card without checking it / warning you, even though they knew by then the ones myself and gonzo had bought were buggered!

    Ginge

We had no way of checking this prior to shipment and the information we had at the time suggested this was an isolated issue. We would of course prefer for this issue not to occur as there is no benefit to SCAN from arranging RMA's and re-shipments.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and will help wherever possible to rectify any outstanding issues

    Best Regards

Hmm, but have you read Mavke's guide on how to flash a BIOS ? Don't know about you but those instructions are incomprehensible to me.

Re: 1GB BFG Tech GTX 280 H2OC ETA please

Guys i got a phonecall from BFG UK today about collecting the card, after i explained what was going off i got through to a tech who has just emailed me this after i explained it is a total pain in the arse to remove the card due to the water block and the fact it does work..

    Hi Mr Holland

I have been in contact with head office in the states and they are working on getting me the BIOS for your card. I should have it tomorrow because of the time difference. As soon as I get it I will email it to you.

Re: 1GB BFG Tech GTX 280 H2OC ETA please

Firstly - how weird is that - I'm also Mr Holland

Anyhoo - doesn't make a difference to me unless there's an easy way to flash the BIOS from windows.

    I don't have a floppy drive

Chris P - if SCAN want to take the risk of flashing the BIOS for me - then you'll save yourself a return and keep the sale ??

But I'm just as happy (well actually much less happy - but hey ho) to return the card to you for you to ship it back to BFG for them to shove it up thier 4rs3s

LOL yeh tony i spotted your last name earlier

if you have a usb memory stick / flash card you can use the HP utility to make it bootable and format it with the make startup disk option by right clicking the drive in windows and going to properties, then format & make bootable.

run this on the usb stick/ flash if you have one http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...reg_R1002_USEN

Re: 1GB BFG Tech GTX 280 H2OC ETA please

Buggerit - I've taken the sodding thing out now - lol

I'll return it to SCAN tomorrow morning - shame, because it's a lovely piece of kit - ran at a constant 38degrees even under heavy load.

When the next batch comes in - I'll get another - at least I know how to fit it quickly now.

Overclockers are expecting some on 21st Aug - so I suspect SCAN will also get some more soon

But I might wait until what's announced at NVISION - aparently either a GTX280+ or a GTX290 ... saying that - it's no good if the BIOS is goosed eh ?

p.s we even have similar systems Mr Holland - I'm logging off - this is all getting a bit twilight zone for me.

Re: 1GB BFG Tech GTX 280 H2OC ETA please

    AAAaaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh !!!!!

But then again, I'm not confident that I could get the boot from memory stick working correctly

I'll return it, and wait the few weeks it takes until some more come into stock with correctly configured from the box BIOS's

Thanks for the suggestion though - Cheers

p.s. Have you tried overclocking it yet ? - I know some people have gotten 740Mhz from it stable - I have a 17,770 score on 3DMark06 with it running stock !!

Re: 1GB BFG Tech GTX 280 H2OC ETA please

well BFG insisted on swapping the card after all that, they did a doorstep swap and i wound up with a 2nd hand card that doesnt like cold booting

after 2 mins with a hairdryer heating it up it boots without lines all over the screen, so they have said they will get me another card out for fri am delivery as thats the only time someones in, they will arrange collection next week.

    *sigh* 3rd time lucky ?
