Angry Scan & Tagan Warranty (TG430-U15 Easycon Blew up)

Fao Scan,I called your technical dept on Sat 19/07 because my 20 month old Tagan has blown up with what can only be described as an Air bomb firework going off you told me i have to deal with Tagan direct which Tagan deal with Nanopoint in the UK (Already going all round the houses)

Now i have been given an RMA to send it back to Nanopoint which i am doing tommorrow however after checking royal mails website this is going to cost me nearly £10.00 to send back because Nanopoint won't pay delivery! Now why should i have to pay this money for a product which is in warranty? Seeing as i purchased it from you shouldn't you be dealing with it?

On a side note 2 of my brothers Tagans have also blown up different models to mine and from doing research on the net it would we are not alone as well an to me sounds like Tagan are fitting parts to purposely blow after a certain time (ie all it takes is 1 weak cheap component) And it's not a cheap brand neither supposedely! Needless to say i will not be purchasing anything from Tagan again.

Re: Scan & Tagan Warranty (TG430-U15 Easycon Blew up)

    Firstly.

Tagan make a lot of PSU's, so some will fail.

If you were to google NVIDIA graphics card failures, ATI/AMD graphics card failures, Matrox graphics card failures, you will find thousands upon thousands of website all saying they are terrible and that you shouldn't buy them. If we listened to that we'd all be using on-board graphics (and I bet you can find a lot of forum posts about on-board graphics failing)

    Secondly.

Royal Mail isn't the only service you can use, what about Parcels2Go?

    Don't be silly.
If you've had 3 Tagan PSU's blow up within a short period I'd be looking at other things. They are reliable PSU's. To have 3 you have purchased 'blow up' is against the odds.

Read the post correctly i never said i purchased 3 Tagans.
Looking at what other things exactly? You mean that these 3 other Tagan's were different models in completely different rigs with different mobo's and even a different electricity supply.

Do some research Tagan are quite unreliable in fact.

"Hey man... don't even bother with Tagan anymore.

I am on my 5th Tagan ITZ 800W, all having the same problem as you. Look it up on Newegg... TONS of people are having problems with all Tagan power supplies. I'm returning this piece of crap and getting myself a SeaSonic... best PSUs around plus their modular.

Tagan... you should really test your PSUs out for more than a day to make sure your product can last. This is extremely frustrating and I can't even enjoy my brand new $3,000 rig because of it"

I won't be touching them with a bargepole anymore.

Re: Scan & Tagan Warranty (TG430-U15 Easycon Blew up)

Oh surprise surprise yet another tale of so called good psu with total protection yet this 1 fried is whole pc.Don't kid yourself into thinking they are good psu's because they use cheap caps that barely last the 3 yr warranty..

    TG430-U15 (EASYCON) issues

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am based in the UK and bought one of these last April because of its modular build and connectivity options. Anyway on Sunday it blew up spectacularly fusing the upper floor of my house and frying my motherboard and some of its contents.

I have emailed Tagan support about a potential replacement on the tech@tagan.com address but had no response to my query.

Is this usual as I am getting a little frustrated now as I have a smouldering PC sat in my office and am potentially staring down the barrel of a large bill to replace it.

    Cheers!

EZCool is the way to go

... Its a joke before I get flamed to death

FYI I have one of the cheapish £25 Gigabytes (allegedly made by FSP) and its been great but then I dont load it up hugely, but it has been on 24x7 for most of its 12months or so life.

For higher loads I would look at the Corsairs, good reputation and long warranty.

Anyone know much about the Xigmateks?

I've done my research, but you'll find faulty units from any manufacturer. From what I've seen I can't say that I've seen enough evidence to suggest that they are any worse than others on the market. They shift a lot of units so its fair to expect to see a few more issues about.
I cant say a couple of non linked statements is going to sway my impression just yet though, although I will keep a look out for related threads as I've used Tagans in many of my builds.

Sorry to hear that you've had an issue though, its not nice when anything like this happens.

Some Tagans are low quality and some are quite good. Just look at the reviews...

    Considered an OCZ PSU?
Three year swapout warranties on them.

I have been using a 480W Tagan PSU for nearly 4 years now, gone through 3 systems during this time, it has been through loads of overclocking, different harddrives and configurations.

    5 starts for me.

Re: Scan & Tagan Warranty (TG430-U15 Easycon Blew up)

    Hmmm.

I can think of far, far worse psu companys than Tagan. Personally i'd take them over Seasonic everytime from personal experience.

Can I ask just what is in the system your running mate as 430w is a low end psu to be honest and the fact you and friends have gone through 3 seems a bit strange. You got any high end componants in there?

+1 on OCZ psu's. Best units on the market to be honest.

    Nothing special Core2Duo Wolfdale E8400
    Geforce 8800GT
    2 Sata Drives
    1 Sata DVD Writer

We've had a watt meter on this setup and when the system is fully loaded it doesen't even use 300w
I think your slightly mistaken about it being low end i'm not being funny but it's simply because psu technology in terms of watts and gone through the roof and if you read most reviews about these
silly 700+ watt psu's i think you will find they are way overkill for most of today's systems it's just a race on who can reach 2kw first.
