    Re: Using a different carrier?

I already ordered got a Seagate 2 Tb LP a few weeks ago for £81, then the F4 just got released and it is vastly better. I spotted the £81 offer yesterday and had to have two and can just ebay my Seagate.

    My £81 Seagate LP:

    The £81 Sammy F4:

    And the £141 WD black:

The red results are from someone else who tested the F4 against both the WD green and blacks which convinced me to get the F4 and get rid of the Seagate.

The 2 Tb drive was only meant to be for backing up my Raid 0 F3s, but the Seagate took over two full days for my first backup :x. Also, while the Raid array is backed up, my space is gone, and I only had 300 Gb left after the backup was done, so I needed a second drive too for other use. So I'll have one 2 Tb drive for backups of my Raid array and storage, and the other for everything else which will be fine.

At £81 for 2 Tb F4s, and £45 for 1 Tb F3s, who can say no to some yummy Raid 0 F3s with F4s for backup?

I would like to see a comparison with an empty seagate rather than 1489/1863mb as that will have a marked effect on performance. It has a faster rotation (5900 vs 5400) so would expect it to beat the samsungs when in the same conditions. From vague memory the Seagate has increased power consumption too I think 6.8w under load vs 6.1w under load for the sammies (F3) Which is fairly linear power usage to rpm. Havent seen the F4 datasheet yet but will look it up somewhen

A comparison F4 to F3 would be good too if ever!

Shouldn't this really be in a different thread?

We've gone a long way from Scan now using DPD.....

    Re: Using a different carrier?

The text said it would arrive between 12:01 and 13:01, but it arrived at 12:29, which I make as being 2 minutes early. Disappointed.

Not really, was far better than waiting all day terrified that I'd miss the City-Link driver - cheers

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Just used the new courier but Scan should inform customers in Northern Ireland that no time-slot can be arranged. This is what DPD apparently informs due to the rural nature of the country.

Better than Citilink then just on the basis of cost so all monies saved are appreciated
