    Re: Using a different carrier?

Got to say, I'm impressed! I was given a delivery window of 17:52-16:52 and it was delivered bang in the middle.

I was able to go out this afternoon as well which I wouldn't have been able to do with City Link. Very pleased so far with DPD!

    Re: Using a different carrier?

not such a good change for me, dispatched friday, no time window, no delivery yesterday! Tracking says out for delivery today, but still no time window. Not normally a huge issue for me but client desperate and I promised delivery first thing this am! Embarrassing as scan have never let me down in the past and I made a guarantee based on that!

City-link have generally been reliable in the past, but the last month they were delivering later and later - normally used to get stuff about midday, last few orders came in about 4pm!

Hopefully this first delivery for me with the new courier is just a glitch and not a sign of things to come!

    Re: Using a different carrier?

I am not impressed by DPD at all.

I placed an order with SCAN over the phone on Thursday for it to be delivered on Friday. Got all the confirmation emails and a tracking number with DPD.

Waited ALL day. Tracking information displayed "On vehicle for delivery".

I thought to myself "Great!" WAIT WAIT WAIT

It got to 7pm and i checked the tracking information again and was left with this. "Unable to deliver, calling card left"

    Two things.

    1. Theres no calling card.

    2. At the time they allegedly left me this mysterious calling card i was at my front door talking to my neighbor for thirty or so minutes.

So what this amounts to is that i've wasted a whole day waiting for a delivery van to give me my paid for goods that never even got near my house. I do not like being lied to.

Googling DPD i came up with this little gem.

    http://www.trustpilot.co.uk/review/www.dpd.co.uk

Kind of says something about the new wonder delivery company SCAN is now using.

I've shopped with SCAN for a very long time as they were the "go to" guys for anything computer wise and i've always been 100% satisfied. I've never had trouble with City Link deliveries either as the day they said they were going to deliver, they actually delivered.

I'm going to ring customer services later today but i thought i should post here also because i believe everyone should be aware that SCAN switching to these cowboys is the worst decision they have ever made.

    Tolon

Let's not cloud the issue and say the whole transition to DPD is a mistake .

Please PM me your Invoice number so we can look into this for you, DPD have advised us all deliveries are tracked by GPS.

    Best Regards

EDIT: As you cannot PM, please raise a new thread here, where the Invoice number can be entered.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

This is bypassing, and is the reason why I couldn't really buy from Scan here until they switched to a company like DPD.
The difference is, if you get bypassed by citylink, all that will happen is you will keep getting bypassed until you either sue them, or take the effort to go to the depot (not an easy task for many).
DPD supposedly take these matters a bit more seriously, so you will hopefully get a resolution from them.

That website that got linked is the only website I have yet seen that rates DPD badly, it looks like it's a bit of a club for all the people that have had bad experiences to me. Not trying to defend them, because all couriers are evil, but still.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

My last 5 consignments via DPD have been "reurned to depot" by their drivers, flagged as " flats, no access", and always by a different driver. I ordered a Cooler Master case from Scan last week, at 8am it was tracked out for delivery, by 12 noon it was tracked as back at the depot. Five phone calls later and a long complaint to a DPD manager on the blower and I got my delivery that day, but only through sheer perseverance. DPD called another courier service to pick up my consignment from their own depot and deliver it to me. How ironic is that! When the guy arrived with my Cooler Master case, late in the afternoon, he told me that his firm pick-up all the leftovers from that particular DPD depot, and that most of these are to to blocks of flats. I'm drafting a letter to the DPD Head Office regarding my local depot, because their drivers are pulling all kind of stunts.

I live in a block of flats in N.London, there is an access road and free parking for service deliveries, there is a 24 hour concierge on duty here and couriers from various companies come & go all day, so for the DPD drivers to flag my flats as
"no access" is taking the mick, particularly when the drivers have the name of the access road, and a contact telephone number to call in case of any difficulties.

So If you've had good service from DPD then consider yourselves lucky, my experiences with them have all been negative, not just the occasional delivery, but 5 deliveries returned to depot in an eight week period is unacceptable

Oh yeah, the CoolerMaster CM690 II Advanced is an excellent case by the way, and at a decent price from Scan, I'm very pleased with it, cheers!

At least they go that far, Citylink don't allow you to have a better courier pick stuff up from their depot

Delivery window 15:45-16:45, delivered at 15:51. Allowed me to go out during the day to get my Uni stuff sorted, much better than City Link ever was!

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Hello guys, I apologise for not replying for so long. Since my last post my account was deactivated. When i tried to "Request Activation Email" i could not receive the email. I know it is an issue with my email provider however as the problem has happened before when i have tried to register with forums using VBulletin.

I tried to email the forum admins but received no response for the past few days. I decided to re-register with an account with my default gmail address and it worked instantly. My email provider sucks

Right phew! that is out of the way. I would first like to aplogise to SCAN for my previous post. I was angry that my order did not arrive and after looking at that thread i posted i feared the worst and overreacted.

Unfortunately in my case (and i repeat MY case) the forum thread i posted turned out to be kinda relevant as it is now Tuesday morning and i have not receieved my order yet.

Here is an image of the tracking.

I cannot post images or links so just paste it in the browser:
    tolon.net/files/personal/dpd.jpg

Note 10th Sept @ 17:00 "Unable to Deliver, Insufficient Time Available". That was added on the 13th. At the time there was nothing but "Unable to deliver, Calling Card Left". There was no calling card to speak of aswell.

To say i'm annoyed is an understatement. I have took time off work to wait for deliveries that just haven't turned up due to "Insufficient Time Available". What a joke!

I don't know what to say, i've just had a bad time of it.

Don't mistunderstand me here people, I have no complaint against SCAN in this as all the way through they maintained their usual good service and were great over the phone, offering to contact DPD & see what the score was and arranging a Pre-Noon delivery for this morning.

In reply to Chris. I thank you for offering to investigate this for me. If i do not recieve my order later today i will indeed use the link you gave me and post there.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

I think we should start a database of positives/negatives about couriers in different locations, as each company seems to have good and bad depots. For both the locations I deliver to, I'd place citylink in 'bad' and DPD in 'good' but for a fair few people I suspect it's likely to be the other way round.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

I just ordered a pair of 2 Tb samsung F4s on yesterdays £81 offer, and I were surprised that thet they were dispatched on DPD.

Surprised in a good way that is, I prefer DPD because they give you an estimated time of delivery, and they have always been accurate with that so I dont have to waste all day waiting for the delivery.
