This is due to swapping over to DPD.

DPD collect on saturdays and as such we can now dispatch on Saturday for delivery on Monday (Apart from this monday - it's a Bank Holiday)

holy crap guys! My citylink driver was my instructor for motorbike training , he was class but have to admit the change sounds like a massive improvement.

An hour window is bloody amazing, i hated waiting in even though i knew normally id get it from 10am-12pm but you never know. And Saturday delivery.... only £8! Im tempted to buy my monitor now .

Just need to pick one and need for it to appear on today only

Thanks for replies guys. Cheering myself up by ordering stuff on a Saturday was always tinged with disappointment knowing that I might as well wait until Monday.

Does that mean that delivery is still £10 for Hexus members - until free delivery to northern ireland is introduced?

This sounds like great news, pleased to hear it! (Even though I've not really had much of a problem with CityLink).

    Re: Using a different carrier?

The Scan contract must be a major loss for Citylink!
I have never had a problem with them myself but this one hour delivery window malarky with DPD is great.

    Hi geezerone

The carriage charges to offshore and non mainland UK deliveries has dropped considerably but still not feasible to include these in the free carriage offer, however as before we can reduce the total carriage charge to the delivery address by the standard UK shipping charge.

You would need to place the order via the sales line and your account to be associated with free delivery.

    Hope this helps

Is it that thread in a forum nearly 10 months old? Otherwise I would like to enter my post code and then nearest depot would be listed. Can't seem to be able to do that.

As for the news, City Link was good for me considering how many times they had been used for my parcels. Be used DPD to deliver their router to me, he came extremely late ~18:30pm by bike, at the time he handed me the parcel in a odd way but I thought nothing of it, by the time I got inside I noticed there was a massive gash in the middle corner, even punctured the actual router box, luckily nothing was damaged.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

We realise it may be possible to find a list of local DPD depot's, however the reason why DPD don't have a depot locator or list where their depot's are is for security reasons, therefore this is why we have respected the decision also not to list the locations.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

I never had any real issues with city link either BUT a 1 hour window delivery time is a godsend! I remember when i lived in manchester and i was a student sitting in the house all day waiting for a delivery as i was miles from the depo and had no car. Delivery didnt arrive till 6PM so i missed all my classes and was rather miffed!

Now I usually have things delivered to work which is not too much of an issue but i do worry that if we start to abuse it too much they may clamp down. With this i can just take my lunch whenever it is or work up the extra 1/2 hour or so in the evening.

Great move guys, yet another reason for me to be loyal Scan customer.

The one thing that puts me off ordering anything for delivery is not knowing when it'll turn up, so this is A Good Move™.
I see that the 1-hour slot is sent by SMS; I don't have one of them there new-fangled thingies, so is it also sent by e-mail or is on DPD's tracking site?

If you send a text to a landline you get a voice message with the text being read out to you, so just enter a landline number isntead of a mobile. I can't remember if you need to have 1571 set up on your line or not though.
