I love Scan but I hate CityLink

Because they are a useless bunch of lazy dishonest incompetents.

I have been in the house all day, check my parcel status online and it says no-one at the delivery point, card left.

Not only is there no card here I am absolutely 100% positive that no attempt was made to deliver my goods, this means I will have to wait for monday which is no good to me and as a result I have had to go out and purchase some of the items from elsewhere as they are urgently required.

Love Scan, hate your courier service.

Sounds like a bit of bad luck mgh0

City link are always great for me. I know the driver now due to so many deliveries from Scan and other places and hes a top bloke.

My last scan order showed up via city link in record time.

Sh*tty-Stink strikes again... Or more to the point.. Doesn't strike.

I've had this with 1/3 of all my orders from Scan, I never get my parcels when I should, and they seem to think that saying they've tried to deliver it and haven't even bothered is good customer service.

I love Scan, and choose them over any other e-tailer (apart from Kustom for modding bits). But City Link are appauling where I live.

City Link do really well for me. I'm in the north of Scotland, and theres only one company other then Scan thats ever managed to get something delivered to me next day. So, while I recognise that City-Link may be bad for you folks who expect next day delivery, but for people like me for whom anything under 4 days is nice, City Link do a good job. Just a contrasting view

Worst case scenario, you could take down proof of address and some ID, along with the consignment number and pick it up from the citylink depot either today or tomorrow morning

This is so typical of City Link, they do it all the time. You are lucky thier tracking page works too, 9 times out of 10 it does not work.

They are dirt cheap compared to other companies and the reason why so many retailers use them and can offer free delivery.

But TBH, if Scan did offer an alternative more professional courier i would be tempted to just pay on certain orders.

But Scan sustomer servise is so good, you know they will do everything they can as fast as they can to sort mistakes out.

At least Scan give us free delivery. So companies still charge us to use City Link, even on large expensive orders.

Ive never had problems with city link, used them loads of times. Its all down to the delivery drivers, some are good some are not.Ive found the worst are parcel force, left a parcel outside the house and forged my signature when i checked on the website,ie put my name down as signed for by me and iI had never seen the parcel

I did that once after experiencing the same problem as the OP and when I got there they couldnt find my parcel. So I drove the 22 miles back home to be greeted with a phone call from the depot saying that they had found it but they had no drivers available to deliver it, so I said I would collect as it was very urgent and off I drove again. When I got to the depot I was told that a driver had taken it and had phoned the depot saying noone was in! No s*** Sherlock!

Another time, I ordered a Radeon 8500 when they first came out, City Link managed to deliver this time, when noone was in and left my card on the doorstep of my TERRACED house in a rather undesirable area! I cant believe for the life of me how it was still there when I returned from work

Ive worked for the group who own City Link in the past and I can safely say they dont know their arse from their elbows ! I am fortune enough to live 5 minutes drive from Scan so I collect whenever possible

Scan, have you ever thought of offering an alternative Royal Mail service? Many other etailers offer this, RL Supplies being one. I can assure you, you would get more business by doing this. I know of 3 people at least who won't order from you because of City Link

    Nothing to do with Scan!

But... I answered the door to city-link about an hour ago and told the guy to come on up. I waited at the door but no-one appeared so i looked out my window to see the guy get in his van and drive off.

It's taken me an hour to get through to the depot but they said he'll swing back around

Bit bizarre but at least it's sorted!

    ... I think

    Hi,

The reason for the delay was they mis-sorted some parcels and basically the tracking number that he recieved was for someone elses order thats why i came up as carded, they are currently sorting this as we speak and should be sorted tonight.

    Regards

    Another problem here,
    Details on tracker show:

16:36 Thursday, December 8, 2005 Delivery point closed (Carded)
But I was home by 4pm and a card had already been left earlier, tried to ring them all morning and last night to see what time slots they will attempt to come by today. Always engaged and today they carded me minutes after I left....

11:09 Friday, December 9, 2005 Delivery point closed ( Carded)

Now I need a 1/2 hour journey to the depot to pick it up.

Otherwise, great service from SCAN as the guys are always helpful here, on their website and phone.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

to be honest I just let City Link deliver the card when I'm at work and then go straight to the depot to collect the order.

Never really had a problem from them and I've had a lot of stuff from City Link and also SCAN

It wasnt from scan (sorry scan) but last time i got a order delivered by
citylink was for a montier for uni. I ordered it intime (next day delverery) for it to be delivered on the monday that i was leaving on the wednesday.
    - Monday, i was in all day, but it fell of the end of the delviery list (ie, they ran out of time)
    - Tuesday, in all day again, and they carded it "delivery point closed"
    - So i as i was seting off about 9.00 wed, i phoned them that evening, and arranged to pick it up from stoke (i was driveing within 5miles to get to uni anyway) - "yeah" "yeah" thats fine.
    - Wednesday morning, i checked the website again, just to check, and its down for delivery :S
    - Ring them, they dont know if its on the van or not, and his not picking up his phone (great)
    - They ring back 20mins later, its deffonatly on the van, sorry, but he'll go stright to you and it will be there for 10.00 (ah well, i can wait an hour)
    - 10.00, nothink
    - 10.30, nothink, so i ring again "his running late, but it will be there in 25mins" (Grrr)
    - 11.00, nothink, DAM IT
    - 11.30, im in the car driving to uni, without my moniter, and before i get the end of the road i see a citylink van (YAHOOO!!)
    - Turn the car round and chase him up my street, he drives stright past my house...
    - Overtake him, then put flashers on and stop in a narrowing where he cant pass, get our, explan myself, to while he replys "yeah, im just on my way to your house" (?)
    - So i say ill pick it up now, so he goes to the back of the van, with clipboard, spends 5mins in there (:S) comes out, he cant find it, AHHHHHhh.
    - He rings head office, who tell him its deffonatly not there.
    - He rings his "mate in dispatch" - "yeah, its been here all day mate, the owner wanted to pick it up himself" AHHHHhhhhh
    - So i drive to stoke, and get told its not there.
    - So i explane my whole story, at which point they go an look for it, and turn up 10mins later with my screen. OMG!!!!
    - But i got to uni, only 4hours behind scedual, with my moniter.
    [rant off]

    Sorry about that, but AHHhhhhh!!!

And to rub it all in, it was faulty and needed returning to samsung anyway.
(Which took 15days, £15 of phone calls, and two pickup atepmts, and i got a diffent model re-con, screen, and no refund for the calls.)
