    This cannot be happening...

Well at Xmas I got a Dell 2005FPW monitor and around 2 - 3months ago it was replaced by dell with a refurbished unt (due to burn in and light leakage) well 3 months later and i have yet again problems.

My start bar is burnt into the screen and several black pixels are stuck on the screen. Plus you got it - backlight leakage is still there.

At first i was not bothered about the leakage as it wasn't as bad as the last unit but now the burn in is back and dead pixels are here and this is a refurbished unit - how do I know? Well the monitor dell took was dated with a month from 2005 this one has a date from 2004. And its worse then my last one.

My friend also got one of these and out of the box he had a blue stuck pixel, it's still there but he cannot be bothered to go though dell after I told him Scan themselves had to get their supplier to get dell to cooperate with me (thanks scan BTW). This is the 2nd monitor of this model i have had and I am not happy.

I would like to ask Scan if it can be returned for a differant brand as Dell is getting right up my butt. I cannot play an MMO (Guild Wars) for longer then 2 hours or I get a burn in and I then have to leave the monitor off for around 3 days for it to be removed.

I would be greatful if someone from scan can help me out, I know im not the only one people from overclockers etc have had the same and some were presented with dell 2007 models as a replacement. Apparently the 2007 is worse...

I'm about to return my 3rd replacement Dell 2005FPW because of backlight bleed & dead pixel problems and I really dont believe that Dell do anything when they refurb them. The second one I got had 17 dead pixels on it! I just want them to send me one with no dead pixels and no backlight bleed; watching programs such as 24 is virtually impossible in some places because of the dark scenes+bleed.

Apparently yourselves "Scan" cannot do anything as its "too" old and again I have to go though hell "Dell". I know what will happen when I say I didn't buy direct from them...

"Contact the retailer you purchased it from we can't do anything without a customer number".

I bet after all of this I will yet again have problems with the monitor if and when i get a replacement.

    Any help Scan?

Deadpixels and backlight bleed are a fact of life as far as tfts go, sometimes youre lucky, sometime youre not. And scan are quite right to tell you to speak to dell, as its a direct warranty. Usually you should only need the details of the monitor, theres a different number to ring for peripheral support to the rest of the hardware stuff, which people often find works a lot better. have you tried the one on the scan warranty info page?

Please don't forget DELL have already replaced this for you once so they should have all the correct details now and be able to deal with it straight away.
