New Powercolor 9550 card looks dead.

    Hello
I'm a bit lost with a problem and wonder if anyone can give me any guidance pse.
I've filled in one of the Scan tech support forms first thing this morning, but heard nothing.

I've an old-ish system on a Gigabyte GA-7VM400M 1.x motherboard, Radeon 9200 AGP8X series graphics card and about once every few days get the message that my Graphics Accelerator is not responding. Putting in the latest drivers made no difference, so I thought I'd try a new graphics card.
I got a Powercolor 9550 from Scan yesterday, but after installing it (and blowing out the slot and reinstalling it), the computer won't even give the BIOS screen.
There are no beeps from the memory board at all, the monitor ready light flashes as it does when there's no connection, and nothing happens other than the hard disk light coming on and staying on till I use the off switch.

Replacing the old card brings it all back to life as usual.

I'm wondering whether the board is just dead, or whether it's some incompatibility with the mobo.
    Any ideas welcome.

Well the scan man has replied but come up with "if the card has a power connector on the rear of the card this would need to be powered for the card to display. If the card does not then it may be possible the card is fauty and would need to be replaced."

There is no power connector, so is it just that the card must be faulty then???
I'm surprised at the total lack of response from the mobo, but then perhaps that's what happens if the card is faulty.

    Thanks anyway.
