Mobo not working, any ideas before I RMA?

Hi, I recently purchaced some parts to build a computer from scan, however i have run into difficulty.

This is not my first build, however it is the first time i have run into problems.

    Then motherboard is the:

    Asrock ALIVESATA2-GLAN, VIA K8T890
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=463640

    and the graphics card is:

    256Mb Sapphire Radeon X1300 PCI-E(x16)
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=296945

using an enermax 430W power supply and an AMD 64 X2 3800.

First of all are these components all compatible, i am sure they are, but that could be one reason it doesnt work.

When i power on the system, there is no graphics output to the monitor. So i cannot see any post message, but i presume it posts as there are no horrible beeps.
To try to locate the problem i have tried the graphics card in another computer, and it works fine.
I have tried another graphics card in this computer, and i have the same problem, not VGA output. I have also tried both graphics cards with a 650W powersupply, and there is no VGA out put.

How reliable are the AsRock boards, could the PCI-Express 16 slot be faulty?

Any advice or trouble shooting ideas are welcome, as i want to exhaust every option before i RMA the board.

Your saying the graphics work on another board then yes it does point to the mobo.

You get no beep codes , you should still get one beep to confirm that it all works , which you don't , also another reason why you will not hear beeps is because the speaker it is attached to does not work.

If it is usually the board then it is quite difficult to find out from beep codes cos they are normally check the cpu , ram and VGA, mobo is the funny one cos its the mobo that give the beep codes .

I do think its your NB cos you are not getting any signal from your card and its the NB that controls the PCIEX16 and tyhats probably just fried , may have been a bit loose.

I to am new to the troubleshooting and just learning the ropes but this is my two cents.

Thanks for the response, i think i will have to try and RMA it tomorrow.
Its a shame, and surprising especially as the mobo is straight out of the box.
