    Thumbs down RMA Problem

    Hi.

I bought a EVGA Nforce 680I Motherboard from scan computers online which cost me £200 brand new last November.

When I got this motherboard there was no manual and cdrom with drivers and utilities with this product. Which would mean without them the mobo is no good. I contacted scan straight away and asked for a exchange or refund as this would be no good to me in which they rejected and said to me that I should go to the manufacturer for more help.

So I got in contact with the manufacturer who said that they would post out the drivers and manuals to me and would get within 3 working days. Its been over a month and nothing had arrived.

After days of browsing on the internet I was finally able to download a pdf of the manual and download the drivers of the internet also. I was now able to connect this motherboard together.

However after setting the motherboard up it would not function properly and did not meet the requirements as it suppose to do.

So next I did a RMA with scan and have it sent back to them for them to refund my money back to me. Scan arranged a courier to collect the item. After a few days they got back in touch saying my RMA failed and would not give me my money back as I have damaged the motherboard by it having damaged pins on the board which was caused by me. When I sent this mobo back to them there was no signs of damage caused by me as this was a working product. Only thing I can think of is that they have cocked the board up but do not want to own up to it.

After reading my RMA had failed I called them and they said that they would send me a picture on the same day by email. No pictures was recieved on that day so I rang again on the next day and they said the same again that they would send out a picture to me within the same day. And same again no picture was received. I received a picture finally after another more forceful phonecall. One the picture it showed the pins to be bent. When having sent this there was no damage such as that on the board. Only thing in my case I do not have any pictures to prove that this damage was not on there. So it is a case of my word vs there word which they will not accept.

I really do not know what to do now. Having spent £200 on a mobo that don't work and now they don't want to give me my money back.

In this case this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced so far and defiantly would not ever want to do business with them again.

You should have asked to return it under the distance selling act.

I've forwarded the details to the Returns manager to look into further for you.

In the meantime, if you can PM me your real name, and either your original invoice number - or RMA number - then this will help a great deal.

My emphasis added... was it working or not working when you sent it back ?
Maybe I'm being pedantic, but it's not consistent terminology at the very least.

Not being funny dude, but it took me less than 15 seconds to locate the manual for that board. Are you still on a 9.6k modem or something?

    Hi Pranay84,

I understand that you're peeved, but I'd ask you to please not use such language as "Screwed" in future.

Scan will help you, of that I'm sure, but the way you should be asking for help needs to be polite please

    Thanks.

Did you ask to return it specifically under the distance selling regulations? They can't refuse if you do.

Anyway, water under the bridge. I'm sure it'll get sorted.

I hope they can sort something out if not all. Cos I really dont want to custom away from them.

    pranay84,

Sorry for the delay in replying, I can confirm that i have looked into the issue and we are unable to replace/refund the main board,

On the 16/11/2006 you contacted scan regarding a missing manual and CD from the box it was myself that took that call, At the time i advised to contact the manufacturer as we didn’t have the boards in stock and as such couldn’t get you the missing items, from what i remember from the conversation you were happy to do this and at no time did you request to return the board for a refund, If you had i would have actioned this right away and collected the item,

On the 3/12/06 you emailed scan regarding a number of faults with the board and at that point you requested a refund, please note no mention of damage was made, On the 4/12/06 scan raised a returns number (for refund) and also booked a collection for the board,

We received the item back on the 7/12/06 and the board was immediately rejected please see testing report below,

    "
There is no mention of this damage from customer - it is impossible not to notice.

Board isn't going to be doing anything in this condition! The socket has some severe damage on it. Damaged pins (several) also compound. No way I can check it in this condition.
    "

As there was no physical damage to the box and the fact the CPU protection bracket was in place this could not have been done in transit,

We believe that the damage was customer induced and as such confirm the warranty is now invalid.

    Best Regards

The problem I have is that there was no such damage on the pins when I had sent the item. So the damage could be done by yourselves but do not want to own up to it.

The only problem I have is that I have no proof. I should have taken pictures first before i sent the item.
