anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

am asking because i ordered a 360 and couple of games monday night, tuesday we got an email saying our credit card had been declined so we phoned up andthe address had been refused after a short period on the phone it was put down to an error as the address was fine, the lady said our order would go through shortly.
3 hours later we recieve an email saying the credit card has been declined,so we phone up the man says yes your credit checks were fine but the person we spoke had put a hold on it anyway.

so he puts the order through and for 2 days i get processing on the account i check the bank and money had gone tuesday night.
this evening we phone them saying our account says orders despatched tuesday even though this morning they were processing still, we say we are concerned it may not have been posted as we recieved no emails. anyone had similar happen

we had this once before it happens everytime the credit card expires but last time our order never arrived and they have £300 of my cash and i kinda dont wanna wait 21 days to get my money back and buy elsewhere.

    any opinions and advice

I have had my last few go dodgy

    1. A sony Pro Duo 4gb memory stick for my PSP, arrived dead as a dodo
    2. A 8800GT AMP! edition card...was sent a regular one instead, had to deal with their call centre staff who weren't exactly helpful
    3. A cd I had ordered almost a month ago for my dads birthday (last week) still hasnt arrived, cancelled it now though

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

this seems to be gettting more bizarre
    yesterday my account said
    dead rising posted 5/12
    xbox 360 posted 4/12
    assassins creed posted 4/12

i get up this morning and at 3:32 am today 7/12 i have an email saying that dead rising has been posted
i check my account and dead rising now says posted 7/12

when we spoke to play on the phone last night they swore they had already posted all my items out.

clearly they had not posted all my items out WTF!!!!!! is going on with them i am very unhappy

my friend had preordered ut3 collectors edition from them.
    he's still waiting for it.......
he emailed them about where his game is and they said you have to wait 21 days before we can take action. Sooo I guess it's UT3 Demo for him and me this christmas.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I encountered problems with a Cahoot Webcard where Play.com would decline every number. I decided to take my business elsewhere and saved money in the process - since they started TV advertising, Play.com don't seem to be such good value for money anymore.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I pre-ordered a game, when it was in stock my order wouldn't shift from processing after a week, I phoned up and they said there was a problem with this game and the warehouse computers. So they cancelled it and I re-ordered and it posted on the 8th Dec, should be next week.

Other than that no problems with about 8 other orders

Dan you should contact your credit card company and get them to ring play for you on your behalf. If they cannot confirm they have dispatched the goods, then ask your credit card company to cancel the payment and go elsewhere.

managed to get a refund on the xbox 360 although the man on the phone said he would refund assassins creed as well this morning 4 days after the refund was issued i have got my £250 back for the xbox and was planning on phoning them later to say wheres my £40 for assassins and i check my inbox and theres a blinking despatch email 11 days after the original order and 4 days after i cancelled it.

so now i either have to try and send it back over christmas as i wont recieve it til late next week or sell it on here and take a small loss on it.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

play.com is crap i hate them

i had a pretty similar experience. they had a sale on an external hard drive for £100 off. so i order and they decline every one of my cards. called them to sort it out and they said that i dont live at my address. anyway after many many more phone calls they said that the item has been sent. then they sent me tracking numbers that doesnt work. after a few more calls they said ohhh sorry it was a mistake we will credit you back your money.

worst customer service, even a gang of monkeys could do better and they never always honor the deals they advertise. i have heard of others with my same problems too so stay away.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I once bought a DVD from them. They despatched it and....it never arrived. Had to wait 21 days until I could get my money back. Considering it takes 3 days normally to get my stuff, after about 10 days I knew it wasn't going to arrive but no I've got to wait 21 days.

There wasn't even a postal strike on at the time!

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I attempted to buy a Sammy LCD TV from them some time back.

They declined one card, then required voice verfication for the next because it was a large initial order. After jumping that hoop the order just stood still for three days, with no sign of progress. So I just lost my patience(I don't have much anyway )and got it 10 quid cheaper from Dixons, with no verifcation hassle. Won't be going back there.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I know of someone who brought a PS3 frim them. It broke down, and when they called sony CS they told them they couldnt help as it was a koreon one, so he would have to deal with the koreon cs or take it back to the vender. He had to go back though play to get a new one, luckly it was only 10 months in to the warrenty!

So if buying electronics from them, just check to make sure its PAL and a uk one.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

I've made over 50 separate purchases with Play this year. One item got lost in the post but Play replaced it without making a fuss. They're pretty good as far as I'm concerned. Prices are mostly spot on and the cashback through QuidCo is a bonus

I doubt I'd use them for my PC component or major electronic purchases unless a) it was an absolute bargain and b) it would be highly unlikely I'd need support since they're just not specialised enough - that's where Scan, etc, come in - otherwise it'd be like trying to get tech support from, for example, Argos (just asking for trouble).

@OP: hope your troubles have been sorted.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

Personally I've never had any problems with Play.com, but I would probably put that down to not tending to order much from them anyway.

I also hope the OP gets everything sorted (if they haven't been already) though, since I know I'd also be annoyed if it was me (and that obviously applies to the other horror stories told in this thread too).

Re: anyone ever had problems ordering from play.com

Like the previous post, I have never had any problems with Paly, but again I haven't ordered much from them, and what I have ordered hasn't been big or expensive

Had the orders delivered within a couple of days each time

Hope the OP got everything sorted
