The best passive card on the market today is the nVidia 7600GS. It will play games well and due to the 90nm manufacturing process consumes relatively little power, and hence fairly low heat output.

    Review here.
Buy it from Scan here for £88 (dont forget free delivery for hexus posters). A bargain.

...but is PCI-E, and consequently won't work too well in an SN41g2.

The Shuttles are VERY restrictive in terms of size (just try fitting a passive 6600GT into an SN95, you'll get the idea *ouch*).

You'll be lucky to get anything passive to fit in a shuttle.

    Maybe a 9200/9600 kinda speeds...

Thanks for your replies everyone. You're right it's quite difficult to get anything passive (AGP) based to actually fit into a shuttle, not only that, there doesn't seem to be many sellers here in the UK who do this.

I've found a few that do on ebay (from Germany) for 9600PROs, but was hoping for something a bit faster, and definetly cheaper

There were loads of Sapphire 9600XTs 256mb Atlantis that were passively cooled available in the States (and that look as if they might just fit in a shuttle), but unfortuantly the few remaining are too expensive, and many won't even ship to the UK (or charge an unbelieveably expensive amount to do so)

I welcome any further feedback, and thanks again

Sorry, hadn't checked the specs to see it was AGP.
Hmm, if you're trying to get
    a) cheap
    b) cool(ish) temps
    c) passive cooled
    d) powerful (ish) to play games
    e) AGP
Try this 6600GT available from Scan. £110, but you may need to clarify how far out the heatsink sticks.
It's a shame you are on AGP, as the 7600GS will kick the 6600GT's ass... just goes to show the pace of change...

I have one of the Gigabyte passive AGP 6600GTs here - I mentioned trying to fit a passive 6600GT into an SN95 above? The heatpipe assembly on the back of the card is LARGE OK? There was no way it was going into the SN95, and I'd be very, VERY surprised if it went into the SN41. Sorry. It's just BIG.

nichomach, thanks VERY much for the advice, I myself feel the same way, it's doubtful that a gigabyte 6600gt would fit in a SN41G2.

5cupa, I've seen similar cards, but for the occasional gaming (mostly UT and UT2004, ocassionally other things too LOL!) I'd prefer a 9600 PRO as a min.

arthurleung, where did you get that card from, did you assemble it yourself? I assume you've sold the card then?

Thanks again everyone for your helpful feedback.

5cupa, having briefly looked at the comparisons, it seems the 6200 is eq to the 9600PRO in performance, what do you think of this card:

Believe it or not, i just spend the best part of 25 minutes preparing the ultimate list of passive AGP cards from various vendors, with full prices and links, comparison of core / memory Mhz etc etc only to have firefox crash on me whilst posting the last link.....
    Anyway the upshot is this:
    ATI 9600Pro £50 here.

Either get that, the Scan 6200 from the above post, or try to find a 6600 (possible LE) in passive, which to be honest I can't (i have only found PCI-E but am sure they could make an AGP version...).

Damnit, my previous post would have been so cool....

Edit: I think i might have found the one.
Gigabyte GeForce 6600, 256MB, passive, AGP, £83 from here. A review of it here where you can get a good look and decide if it's the right size or not... i like the fact that most of the heatsink is on the back of the card.

Thanks SO very much MSIC I'm very grateful

Tough luck w/ firefox crashing! Those silly computers!!

Which do you reckon I should go for, the 9600PRO or the 6200? I've read that the 9600PRO is probably be better for gaming overall than the 6200.

    Cheers MATIE

Definitely the 9600 out of the two, but don't expect stellar performance from it.
