I can't help but think that Polyphony Digital have forgotten what releasing a game actually involves.

This is a common misconception. ALL of the cars in GT5 will have full interiors, BUT the 200 premium models will have more detailed interiors which deform in a crash.

Take a look at GT5P and some of the cheaper cars which have interiors, those will be the regular style interiors. The premium interiors will be like those found in the Nascar, WRC etc etc.

Ah cool. I thought they had said we wouldn't get an interior view with the 'non-premium' models.

edit: er.. the hands-on preview at eurogamer says the standard cars don't have an interior view.

standard cars won't have interiors, which is a bit sad, but there are, like, 800 of them
Do you know something eurogamer don't?

Do you know something eurogamer don't?
They made a mistake in their translation, which has been common with GT5 news. In the past there was the misconception that there would be only 20 tracks, with 3-4 versions of each track. This of course didn't make sense because we've had 40-60 tracks in each version of GT. The problem was they translated everything wrong. Polyphony stated there would be 20 locations, this meant countries, not tracks. 20 countries, each with multiple tracks amounting to around 70 tracks total.

For instance, in GT5P we have over 70 cars including crappy cars like the Suzuki Cappuccino, all of which have full interiors........are we to believe that the Suzuki Cappuccino is one of the 200 premium models? No, but what we can see is a lack of detail in the Suzuki Cappuccino interior when compared with the premium models.

Here is an article talking about the standard vs premium. And as we can see, the Mustang GT is listed as a standard car....... yet in Prologue it had a full interior. It then explains the differences of the interiors between the premium/standard.

PS add the http, I'm new and it wont let me post links.

You can also see mistakes in the eurogamer article.

" hopefully catching them at just the wrong moment so they make a mess of the next corner and dump their Porsche into a nearby tree"

We all know Porsche isn't in the game, nor has it been mentioned at E3. One could say "but maybe they found out Porsche is in the game" ....yeah but if that were the case they would have made a big deal about it and not just a silly comment like that. It just shows me they lack credibility in this post.

More than likely Porsche as been put in there as /sarcasm.

Edit: Also do you have a source that says every car will have interior/cockpit view, as for all we know Kotaku's interpretation may be wrong.

Not impossible, but if that's the case then it's pretty poor sarcasm as there's no reason to think it was.

    Sorry, but that's wrong.

The idea that they wouldn't happened at the start of May, that's where there were reports about a confusing statement from creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
But over last weekend (probably during E3, those statements were confirmed. Unless you know something we don't by directly being involved with the game. The info now 6 weeks on from the confusing statement is confirming that 800 cars are ports from GT4 with no interior and no substantial graphical improvement.

    Origional report.

I'm sorry but the links you posted prove nothing. For instance the first one says "While that statement has not been clarified yet" regarding the confusing comment by Kaz. And the second link is directly related to the eurogamer article using it for it's source.

Now let's look at what Kotaku was told behind closed doors.

"At a behind closed doors meeting at the E3 gaming expo, Gran Turismo designer Kazunori Yamauchi showed off the game. GT5 has been in development for years now, first getting revealed at the 2006 E3 event. But, those years of toil are readily visible in the game.

There are over one thousand cars, divided into two classes: Standard and Premium. The standard classes are GT favorites like the Lamborghini Countach or the Ford Mustang. The Premium cars are newer automobiles like the Ferrari Enzo or the Lamborghini Gallardo. Those Premium cars will be the only ones that will featured "panel separation" and deformation. The developers have created fully modeled interiors for the Premium cars, as well as doing detailed modeling for the car's undercarriage and even the exhaust pipes! The Standard cars apparently won't have the exact interior modeling. For example, an Enzo's interior will look like the real deal, but your typical Mustang's will look like exactly like Mustang's."

Looks like we have two conflicting reviews from people at E3. There are also other groups who has stated that they were told EVERY car ALL 1000+ will have an interior.

Again, Kotaku could just as easily be mis-interpretation as the others sources you've dismissed. When the behind doors showing off was going on do you really think Sony/PD are going to be showing the Mustang over the Enzo to 'prove' that even the standards have interiors ?

    Re: Features - Gran Turismo 5 - Real-life vs In-Game

Looking at those screenshots, I can suddenly see a whole argument for the need for Playstation 4 power - those Geforce 7000 series graphics (if i recall correctly), in these shots, are looking very 2005.
I'm sure it'll look better animated, GT always did, but in still form there so much missing ie shadows, scattered lighting, higher polygons to simulate greater curvature etc.

A long way to go yet until 'realistic'.
