    Re: iPhone 3

I'm just scared I am really going over to the dark side as I have always termed it. I like the MacBook Pros, like the iPods, even have a room painted 'Apple Green', plus the recent acquisition of an XBox. I'm doomed aren't I?

I think give it a few days for the Apple factor to wear off and see what people say. Although this has been floating around

I've seen this picture and I really wish the new iPhone looked like this but in reality I am sure looks wise it will be the same as the previous model.

The big plus for me is the Appstore, I always got board of previous phones but never seemed to with the iPhone becuase there was always something new to play with. Web browsing is extremely smooth and easy as well.

Maybe if you know someone that has an iPhone have a play, even though more restrictive all O2 shops have them on display as well to play with.

    Don't be scared, have faith

    Re: iPhone 3

I have an iPod Touch 2nd Gen. Basically an iPhone without the phone part. Its good and I like it. Not so keen on the keyboard though, harder to type stuff, but I think in v3 of the software it rotates on normal apps like Mail which would make the keys better spaced out for my liking.

The keyboard should be improved within the new software, however I got used the keyboard as it is and could type much faster than using a phone with keys.

There are of course 3rd party apps out there accessible through certain software, where you could download an app to rotate the keyboard into landscape mode, that worked very well..

New 16 and 32GB iPhones are on the Carphone systems. O2 shops are useless, they are about as clued up as ... I dunno, Alicia Silverstone? I have no idea if Apple have changed the specification. They really need to up the camera to something better and add a flash. How long has it taken them to add MMS to their software?
Or may be they stick to the NDA a bit better

    $99 on a contract, 2 years probably.

£342.50 is PAYG, i.e. unsubsidised cost.

    Is that it?

I've always been saying that if you want a camera, buy a camera, but still 5mp isn't too much to ask, my touch HD nicely takes 5mp pictures, which whilst absolutely awful, when downscaledd enough look just about OK.

Would it really cost that much?

Either way, its old news, its the add on functionality, not the core features which attract buyers.

In the USA the contracts are normally longer than that, as in 3 years + (but with an upgrade in the middle)

Hmm, they haven't reduced the price of the current 8GB model then, should be £299.99 at the most.

5MP and a flash at least. The rest was just software catchup features.

    Re: iPhone 3

Damn it. This is the first iPhone i would buy. I realise existing iPhone owners might not be that impressed, but it's atleast got the basics right now (crazy that it had to get to generation three before video, MMS and decent sat nav) - but it's such a rip off! Apple could clean up if they were more competitive, looks like a new winmo for me then (android is just still to imature yet IMO).

    Re: iPhone 3

... am extremely dissappointed with the new iphone. It's bassically a gimick upgrade. The main upgrade is the software. there is not much difference via hardware. Extreme dissappointment.
