So no, i shall not be getting a 3G "Super Duper" S. And on that point, im actually swapping my iphone for a HTC touch pro 2.
The tethering thing really annoys me. So glad I have a Nokia, connect up boom all included in my so called unlimited data plan (which is 200mb I was told, hardly unlimited) but I don't pay extra for it. I think you hit the points on the head CrazyMonkey. The only thing keeping it going I think is the Applications you can get off the App Store. If it didn't have all those stupid things it wouldn't have lasted. Nokia is playing catchup with Ovi, has SonyEricsson got something similar? Motorola?

I'm still thinking N97 for me.

You CAN jailbreak 3.0 on windows for both 2g and 3g. Alot of people saying you cant because quickpwn havent released anything. Use redsn0w it's far quicker.
    This man knows!

HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC Touch Diamond 2 and the Palm Pre are better phones, and will give you better value for money too!

The iPhone isn’t awful, it’s a great piece of hardware which has been hyped beyond belief, its not the best phone you can buy, so it really irritates me when a new phone comes out, they have to call it the “iPhone Killer” or compare it to the iPhone as if to say it’s the benchmark. It’s certainly the benchmark in terms of sales and marketing, but there are better phones out there people!

My work colleague is so annoying he has had all 3 iPhones, he says that he wants to be different, he doesn’t want to get a phone which everyone else has, he seems to think because its expensive it somehow makes it exclusive, yet he cant see that the iPhone is one of the best selling phones…complete self obsessed *#&*!

I don’t know why, but I have become obsessed with value for money over the past year, I can only assume it’s because I analyse advertising so much and see through all the crap, which Apple seem to do so well. I don’t mind paying, as long as I know I am not being ripped off.

My contract is up soon, but I won’t renew, I will be going on one of those Sim Only tariffs and continue to use my existing XDA Orbit II until the Palm Pre is released sometime in December.

+the smooth+slick experience that doesn't have as many frustrating bs or lags that other phones have which makes it much more usable and attractive for almost anyone.

So the other phones deserve to sell much less for having a crappier software experience.

    i agree to an extent....

android is great sw.. jsut been let down by its hardware (g1 was a cool phone but its a brick, and u need to charge it every 12 hrs)

personally atm ive a blackberry 8900... great phone just limited on the web browsing (when out and about or bored in the office this can be invaluable)!!

the iphone for me is a all rounder safe bet.. but like all apple products a hefty price tag!!

Well that's partly O2's fault for doubling the price and charging £15 for 3gb of data = £50/month bill.
And hopefully the $99 iPhone is not a U.s exclusive.

    Re: iPhone 3GS S

The only thing I miss on my 1st Gen iPhone is more memory (RAM), a bit faster CPU and maybe proper Bluetooth (not a big deal really). While the 3GS S would probably solve it, I wouldn't pay £500 for it.

I do look for 'value' (note that I bought my 1st Gen iPhone when they cleared it for the 2nd Gen), but that does not come in the form of stuff that I do not use. I don't care about a 3, 5, 7MP camera, anything beyond 2MP serves is fine for a phone (for me). MMS? Never used them. 3G? And I couldn't give a flying monkey if the phone that I have is used by 2% of the population or 98% of the population. Okay, I care a little in the sense that an unpopular phone may be discontinued with no more applications updates made for it.

Applications I find useful on a daily basis how that I determine a phone's 'value'. I rather suspect that for the £169 a year ago, I would not be able to get another phone with a good Japanese dictionary, allows me to draw Kanji characters with my fingers (admittedly though, Window's IME pad is superior to what's on the iPhone), and some very decent flashcard programs. Not saying I can't find alternative phones supporting those features, just not for less than I've paid.

I don't even want a case for my phone, its a dumb idea. But i just love that case... pretty sad, I know.

    Re: iPhone 3GS S

I'm after one now but only a 3G. Compared to winmo (I've used upto 6.1) the iphone is a far better interface, with the apps as well (which are poor on winmo imo) it walks all over them (& I've used a lot of smartphones!)

Nokia/symbian - Never liked the interface, heard of problems with phones such as the 5800 & also with the N97

Android - never used it, not sure of what apps are available. No phones running it grab my attention.

The apps make the iphone for me, saves me carrying a PSP/Archos & a phone so for me it would work well. I'm just not impressed with any competitors at the moment & the fact I've already bought Peggle for it via itunes means I HAVE to get one

    Re: iPhone 3GS S

O2 says Unlimited data with no asterix, does anyone know for sure what it is, I've heard it's 300mb-500mb and £15 more pm for 3Gb?

It's hard to believe they can say unlimited without even an asterix these days.. seems like blatent fraud.
