    O2 Xda Pda

    Hi,

I am looking at getting a PDA but need to upgrade my phone also. What to you think of the O2 XDA? I have been looking into it and seems quite a good phone/PDA. Will be using it for all the usual things and will be having tom tom on and also using the 801.b option that i believe comes on the newer version of this phone/PDA. So do you think this is worth the money or should i buy separate?

    Cheers

Well, you've got a choice between about three models at the moment so you can select which features are most important to you. Or you could wait for O2 to release their version of the iMate JAM.

My personal opinion is that they're great PDAs but they're still lacking when it comes to telephone functionality. If you're only an occassional chatter then I'm sure that it won't be too much of a problem but if you talk/text a lot then you might start noticing the poor call quality and how many extra steps it takes to make a call/send a text over a regular phone.

Seconded on the iJam, they are being very nice with this and releasing updates for the software as and when bugs are fixed. Unlike other pda/phone manufacturers.

Shame, isn't it? I was considering one too but wifi's a must. Anyone know if you can get an add-on wifi card for it?

We got a Qtek 9090 recently (SIM-free XDA IIs basically) and that's a lovely little beast; the technophobe director for whom we provided it is now welded to it at a molecular level. I don't think calls or texting are much of a problem - indeed, the built in QWERTY keyboard makes the latter more convenient. I think they're stonkingly good devices; the integrated camera could be better, it's only VGA, but aside from that it's solidly built, nice screen, good range of provided accessories. Actually, I'm keeping a VERY close eye on when Orange get their branded version in stock.
