ahh yes your warranty with your provider is voided but not nokia's warranty Plus if you mess it up you could always make up a story that denies that you ever tried to attempted to upgrade the firmware. i doubt people from t mobile etc realy check the fw version.

    Cheers for that.. make sence

Just been looking at the N95 on the T-Mobile website. It does not mention GPS in the phone details.

Is the GPS a standard part of the phone or is it some sort of optional add-on ?

Also I would like to use it for T-Mobile WebNWalk for internet access with my laptop (through bluetooth). Will I still be able to receive voice calls on the phone when it is connected to the internet via HSDPA ?

Well I have just got my Nokia N95 and I love it

Its surprising how many unsecured wireless networks there are around, especially in local pubs ...

Whats the battery life like? Heard it drops like a bomb if you use wifi or GPS.

I have been getting around 24 hrs, continuous use, which inst bad.

Please seem to wine about the battery life but this doesn't really bother me as I spend most of my time during the week at a PC it can be continuously charged via my PC.

At weekends 24 hrs is enough time even for the amount of partying I do

Nice. Didnt realise you could charge it through the USB cable.

But does anyone have any experience with using it as a modem ? Do incoming calls still work when connected for modem usage via 3G (UMTS/HSDPA). On my T-Mobile connection on my Dell XPS M1210 with the Dell 5505 3G card incoming text messages are not delivered to me until my internet connection through it is disconnected. I am not sure if its a software restriction or its due to how the network works.

You can still receive incoming calls/texts when connected to the internet using the wireless modem.

I am unsure about 3G though

I meant when the laptop is connected to the internet through 3g on the phone.

Thought I'd add my tuppence worth now I've had it for a couple of weeks.

I'm really, really impressed with it. Had a few GreySOD's with it initially, but that was mainly down to me going "wonder if it can do this, this and this at the same time ?". Once I stopped arsing around it's been great. Good screen, great cam (video and photo) for a phone, decent media playing abilities, sat nav is ok, and so on. It even makes calls.

I'm still impressed with all the little things, like the headphones being able to be swapped for any standard pair, while still being able to use the in-line remote. My last Nokia had hopeless 'phones which were impossible to change.

Can't really fault it so far. S'pose the battery life isn't great but it's all relative. Never had a phone before that took 5mp pics, 480 line video, played music and video and directed me from here to the shops so it's hard to compare

Yep, shame about the battery life though

It strange. This phone may have every feature you could probably squeeze into a phone, but surely with them all turned off and only using it for calls/txt should not nail the battery like it does.

All 3G phones have worse battery life than 2G ones (if all other things are equal) dont they ?

The battery life doesn't bother me really. I use the charger in the car (hmm, wonder why they supplied them as standard) and when it's hooked up to the PC.

Would be an utter, utter pain if you went on hols and forgot the charger though

im rather tempted by an n95...

i was really wanting to know just how good the camera was in real world situations...especially pub/club shots. Is it good enough that i wouldnt feel the need to take a seperate camera with me?
