    ext hdd access problem

Hi i have a ext enclosure hdd where i have installed a seagate PATA 160gb hdd formated has a NTFS.

my problem is that when i create a new folder or copy a folder from my main pc, my laptop cannot connect to that same folder when i connect the ext hdd via usb into my laptop. It says that the folder is not accesible, Access is denied. it happenes vice versa also when i make or move a folder from my laptop and try o access it on a different pc.

is it because its formated to an NTFS? is there a hidden settings to alow access to the folder by any pc thats connected to the hdd?

    Re: ext hdd access problem

Almost certainly an ownership/access permissions issue. Change the access permissions on the folders on the external hard drive so that everyone can do anything.

Which OS? You need the security tab for the folder.

    Re: ext hdd access problem

sharing is not the permissions for local disk

you need your local user on the PC to take ownership or grant "everyone" access.
    It is Inevitable.....
