    XP boot screen, two OS's..I dont want two OS's, HELP!!

    Lo dudes.

    I got a spare HDD today. Needed partitioning and formating.

    Booted from XP disk, created partition, and then...foolishly...ran a full format from the XP CD and walked away...

    it of course did a grand job, and then installed XP on the disk.

    Dont want XP on it, so stopped it, and popped the HDD out.

    Will re format that later....

    but my original XP OS boot HDD now always asks me to choose which XP install I want to boot from, and the TOP one, the default one, is the wrong one that doesn't exist.

    How do I remove this from the boot files/config or watever it is?

    You've probably generated another entry in the boot.ini file on your C:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect <--- two of these.

    If you go to disk manager you can find out which disk is which and delete the other one

    I jave only one disk in there at the mo...I unplugged the other one.

    I have found My Computer Right Click Properties, Advanced, Start Up and recovery, Settings, Edit.

    I've changed them around so now it boots, but I dont want the option to be there.

    How do I edit this?
