I'm doing this process because a couple of days ago I turned on my PC and tried to boot my normally fine SATA hard drive, but got an error message saying C:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt, please insert original Windows XP disc to repair. So I did that but ofcourse it cant recognise my SATA HD, so if there is another way to fix that problem without making this boot disc that would be great.
I follow this method exactly:
Installing SATA Drivers without a Floppy Disk (Windows XP) - TACKtech Corp.
But keep getting an error message, when I boot the disc, saying bb-run.sys can't be found. Even though when I look through the C:\ which I've just burned to the disc I find:
C:\OS\Root\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\SATA\PROMISE\i386\bb-run.sys
When I tried following this method http://forums.hexus.net/operating-sy...oppy-disk.html
and booted the disc it wouldn't recognise my harddrive.
I am runnig currently a regular harddrive which is fine, but all my important files and documents are on the SATA drive which I desperatly need to repair to get to them
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks
Or any alternate methods to do this, I was thinking is there a way to access the SATA hard drive from this one? thanks for any help.
