Urgent help needed with WindowsXP & SATA related problems

I'm doing this process because a couple of days ago I turned on my PC and tried to boot my normally fine SATA hard drive, but got an error message saying C:\Windows\System32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupt, please insert original Windows XP disc to repair. So I did that but ofcourse it cant recognise my SATA HD, so if there is another way to fix that problem without making this boot disc that would be great.
    I follow this method exactly:

Installing SATA Drivers without a Floppy Disk (Windows XP) - TACKtech Corp.

But keep getting an error message, when I boot the disc, saying bb-run.sys can't be found. Even though when I look through the C:\ which I've just burned to the disc I find:
    C:\OS\Root\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS\SATA\PROMISE\i386\bb-run.sys
When I tried following this method http://forums.hexus.net/operating-sy...oppy-disk.html
and booted the disc it wouldn't recognise my harddrive.
I am runnig currently a regular harddrive which is fine, but all my important files and documents are on the SATA drive which I desperatly need to repair to get to them
Any help would be really appreciated, thanks
Or any alternate methods to do this, I was thinking is there a way to access the SATA hard drive from this one? thanks for any help.

well, that's wrong, because if you'd followed the instructions from your link, your CD would have no "OS\Root" folder on it - tile files from OS\Root in the instructions are meant to be at the root of the CD (i.e. d:\i386 not d:\os\root\i386)

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I said "even though when I look through the C:\ which I've just burned to the disc" so I do have d:\i386 not d:\os\root\i386

So does anybody have any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong with the boot discs? Or any ideas how to access the files on my SATA HD, from this regular HD with a working operating system? Thanks

Download the drivers for your particular SATA controller. Download nLite. Insert Windows XP CD and follow instructions here to slipstream the sata drivers into your Windows XP cd. Burn CD image to a disc.

Insert new CD and install Windows from that.
