Vista, anyone had to do a clean install yet?

Seems to be running as smoothly as it ever did, & not slowing down due to clogging.
(OK I do keep startup programs & apps to a min, defrag & clean the reg & other places crap collects, good housekeeping)

Seems things are getting better, XP was better than 98 etc. Or am I in a minority?

Almost a year with the same install no problems at all.

is lasting a significant time without doing a clean install seen as a good thing then? Instead of just something you'd expect.

I had an install of XP for 3-4 years (before the HD b0rked) and it was always as quick as the day I installed it.

XP always got a bit chuggy for me over time - I can't say i've had a Vista install up for long enough to evaluate it accurately (as i'm always fiddling).

Re: Vista, anyone had to do a clean install yet?

Ive been running the same Vista install for a couple of months...didnt need a fresh install as i do regular back ups, its not clogging, though I did ask a question regarding a fresh install, will I need to download all the windows updates again when I install a fresh copy? No way I can save the executables or anything? The updates are downloaded via the windows update utility, no executable to backup..

Re: Vista, anyone had to do a clean install yet?

I personally have done a fresh install to Vista but it was only after getting a new hard drive, wasn't really because of Vista itself.
