OK, it's definitely just wmp11 that's messing it up. MPC work perfectly fine.
Well I would suggest you ditch wmp
Sorry not sure how to help you fix it, but we at least now know that its definitely the problem
I imagine MS must know about the issue and will patch it? It's the media player I know and am comfortable using. Until SP1 it did everything I wanted to nicely and integrates well with all my media buttons so I'd rather not change >_<
Its quite possible Microsoft will address the issue if it happens to others as well. In the meantime, I'd try unisntalling WMP11 and then re-installing it, if possible. Maybe by using Add/Remove Windows Components and your Vista disk (I can't remember if this feature is actually still in Vista, but its worth a look; I used it in XP once to restore the version of WMP that came with it, though now I use WMP11, and I don't blame you for not wanting to switch; I love it as well! ).
I don't appear to be able to un-install wmp11 from vista and the version on MS's website is an older version so I can't use that to repair/reinstall either
Fixed the network copy thing yet, that a driver issue or a crap network stack in the OS?
Don't know guys but my pc seems to be flying! Everything working superbly. Glad i installed the SP1 update. I am thinking of going over to 64bit Vista soon so will see how that works out with the 64bit SP1 update.
Silly question, I suppose but is Service Pack 1 available for Vista64?
Edit: Never mind, it is, I found the link.
After installing SP1 on my laptop the USB sound card ceased to function, it was using the windows USB sound driver which after SP1 was installed reported the sound card cannot be started. An installation of the manufactures driver fixed this problem.
